Detroit Tigers defeated the Chicago Cubs with a decisive 8-2 victory at Wrigley Field on Wednesday evening. The Tigers' offense was fueled by Riley Greene, who went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, and Kerry Carpenter, who matched Greene’s power with his own 2-for-5 performance, including a home run and three RBIs. Parker Meadows also had a standout game, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored. The Tigers' pitching staff was stellar, with Beau Brieske starting strong with two scoreless innings and Joey Wentz closing it out with a clean inning. The Cubs' only runs came from a fifth-inning two-run homer by Christian Bethancourt. Despite a solid five-inning start from Jameson Taillon, who struck out five, the Cubs’ bullpen faltered in the ninth, allowing the Tigers to break away with four additional runs, cementing their victory. With this win, the Tigers improve to a 61-65 record and look to build momentum heading into the next series.
