    HAPPY 10 YEARS TO US!

Oh my goodness gracious! How is it that ten years have flown by and that this very issue marks our 120th issue?!

I for one just cannot believe it! It may not quite seem like yesterday when Ashley and I were going door-to-door selling ads for our inaugural issue, but it doesn’t seem like ten whole years ago! But wow, what a journey it’s been! The first thing that comes to mind in reflecting on these past ten years is gratitude. I am so grateful to everyone who has helped us get to this monumental celebratory day.

FOCUSING ON ALL THINGS FARM AND ANIMAL Some of our avid readers might notice that this, yes, is indeed the “Animal and Farm” issue. But for those same avid readers, they might be questioning why, oh why, is this coming out in February – and not March like all of the other years. Well, there’s a good reason for this! You see, next month – March of 2023 – is kind of a big deal for us. This magazine is turning double digits. Main Street Magazine is going to be ten years old! Can you believe it? I can, and can’t at the same time. Have I really been producing this for that long? It doesn’t seem that long, not really. But I suppose looking back, it really has been that long since I forged ahead, asked Ashley to quit her job and come work for me and then she and I went door-to-door in the middle of winter selling advertising, while I networked with local writers like Christine and Mary, who have become incredible friends. It’s been a ride!

IT’S A BRAND NEW YEAR! Well, well, well – what do we have here? We’ve got ourselves a brand new year! Welcome 2023! Now, it’ll probably take me at least the first quarter of the new year to write ‘23 instead of ‘22 on all of my checks. The struggle is real! Buuuut each of us usually welcomes the new year with open arms because a lot of us view it as a clean late, a new chapter, a fresh start. And in many ways, it totally is. Just don’t hurt yourself and over-do it when you hit the gym in those first few days and weeks of ‘23

    HAPPY-HAPPY-HO-HO-HO!

Merry this, and happy that! That about covers everything, right? There is so much going on at this time of year, and I have to tell you that I find the lead-up to Christmas to be a whirlwind. Maybe it doesn’t help that I’m often last minute with things… yeah, that’s 100% on me. But the holidays always sneak up on me! I mean, it really wasn’t that long ago that the kids were just starting the school year. Oh come on, you know what I’m talking about! And yet, here we are: in December – at the end of the year – trying to get it all done before ringing in the New Year and starting fresh

All of our stories are positive and showcase people, places, and things from this incredible area that we are fortunate enough to call home. And in that home, you’d be surprised at how much art and design plays a part in our everyday lives! Please enjoy reading. – Thorunn Kristjansdottir
