Parched, wrinkled and a bit sad. Sounds like a lonesome raisin, but this what you might experience as you are transitioning through menopause.

The key hormone we're talking about is oestrogen. Oestrogen is essential for collagen synthesis, elasticity, hyaluronic acid synthesis and hydration,

When the oestrogen levels start to fluctuate during perimenopause, it can have a knock-on effect on your skin. The declining oestrogen will affect your skin’s ability to retain ceramides, fatty acids that help the skin lock in moisture. Additionally, studies have shown that women lose a significant amount (up to 30%) of collagen in the first five years of menopause. We also start losing hyaluronic acid and this decline accelerates as oestrogen falls.

Because your skin is literally becoming thinner, you’ll also probably notice dramatic changes in the skin that appear as if overnight. This is often the moment you look in the mirror and feel like you've aged 5 years in the space of 1. There is a lot that you can do to care for, prevent and proactively protect your skin against the accelerated effects of hormonal ageing.

Enter the undisputed queen of skincare, yours truly. Listen up and Liana will share her top tips for managing peri and menopausal skin. Hopefully these tips will give you a clearer picture.

Thanks for showing your support, love Liana and Liam.
