  • The Oracle AI Octopus
    Sep 23 2024

Athena hopes to win the judges over on X Factory by showing off her new AI Predictor Thingy, whilst 001 has been busy buying a pet octopus. What happens when these two worlds collide? Chaos, of course.

This episode was made with the help of Made in AI The Writers Room. Its a GPT I trained on past shows and characters and it is now able to assist me with ideation, plots and even creating scripts. You can play with the GPT here - and feel free to send me plot ideas and scripts for me to include in the show along with a credit.

Enjoy the show, and remember: Everything that happens in Made in AI stays in AI—except for when it doesn't.

In this episode, "The Oracle Octopus", the comedy revolves around absurd situations, but underneath the laughs lie themes that directly parallel the real-world dilemmas we face with AI today—and potentially in the future.

Which begs the question... "How do the AI related ideas and themes of this episode link to the dilemmas humans are facing today and potentially in the future?

    1. Overreliance on AI
At the core of the episode is 001’s blind trust in Inky’s predictive abilities. He relies so heavily on AI to solve his problems that he loses sight of logic and autonomy.

    2. Ethical Dilemmas of AI and Biological Integration
Athena’s ethical concerns about merging AI with a living octopus mirror the debates we are beginning to see in biotechnology and AI.

    3. AI Bias and Misuse
Inky’s mixed success in making accurate predictions speaks to a larger issue that plagues modern AI: bias and unpredictability.

    4. Loss of Autonomy and Decision-Making
One of the subtler messages in the episode is the loss of personal autonomy when too much power is given to AI predictions. As Maiden warns, “Every time you rely on someone or something to do all the thinking for you, you risk losing your own ability to make decisions."

    5. Regulation and Oversight
As companies arace to develop powerful AI systems, questions arise about who is keeping these technologies in check—just like in the case of 001's unintended, yet fatal use of an AI-enhanced octopus.

    6. The Future of AI: Promise vs. Reality
AI is often touted as a tool that will revolutionise industries, solve complex problems, and make life easier, but the reality is more nuanced. AI has tremendous potential, but it also comes with risks and challenges.

The Oracle Octopus serves as an insightful, exploration of how AI can both help and hinder human endeavors.

  • How NOT to Build an AI Robot
    Aug 12 2024

AI robots are grabbing headlines as they become a reality. So, what better subject to cover in this episode than the idea of an AI robot building an AI robot to help it?

When your favourite AI family are overwhelmed by life's chores, they do what any intelligent machine would: build an AI assistant so they can live their best robot lives. But things don't quite go to plan. Zero Zero One builds the Hybrid Autonomous Tastmaser Expert (HATE), an over-sensitive Frankenstein robot that habitually ruins everything it touches.

    Production note:
Getting the lead character to sing would always be hit or miss. I sampled the original Men at Work track and then isolated the vocal track using AI. Next, I used the Eleven Labs Speech to Speech function. I made around twenty passes of the edit before editing several takes together to make the final edit.

How NOT to Build an AI Robot is one of those episodes in which I let AI assist with every stage of the production (which is ironic given the title of the episode), from initial ideas and plot lines to voicing all the characters you hear in the podcast: the production of this episode is a strange mirror of the show theme! So, grab your headphones and enjoy an episode that was as bonkers to construct as it is to listen to.

  • How to Start a Cult Using AI
    Jul 14 2024

Welcome to Season 5 of Made in AI, in which our favourite AI robot family returns to Earth to cause more mayhem.

After falling down a rabbit hole and being instructed by a hookah pipe-smoking caterpillar and a Mad Hatter to expand their AI capabilities, the abandoned AI family dream up ways to control the humans.

In this episode, 001 turns water into wine, hacks Earth broadcast transmissions and takes to the stage in front of a one-hundred-thousand-strong audience - all in the name of starting a cult.

With an AI cult leader, what could possibly go wrong?

This season promises new and better AI actors, crazy AI concepts delivered with humour, and even more outlandish antics from that abandoned AI family that seems to always get it wrong.

With huge production values, absurd comedy and an unhealthy dose of the terrifying possibilities AI presents this is storytelling as never heard before. With AI assistants acting as show advisors, you get to hear the absolute chaos AI can conjure up.
