    Sermon text: Psalm 84

In this Pilgrimage Psalm, the Psalmist speaks of his desire to be in the dwelling place of God. He wants nothing more than to be where the Lord is. He even envies the birds who make their nests at the temple. Pastor Brian in his sermon shows us how even though we do not have a physical temple today this Psalm leads us to rejoice in God's Holy Spirit dwelling in believers, and the eternity they are promised in God's presence.

  • The Justice of God
    Jul 7 2024

In Psalm 82 the Lord is seated in his divine assembly and he calls unjust rulers to listen. He pronounces an indictment upon them for failing to uphold justice and for failing to care for the weak, the poor, and the needy. These rulers that God has placed in their positions are to be his servants and to uphold his commands. The Lord is a holy and righteous judge and he warns them that his wrath will come upon those who love wickedness. Pastor Brian ends his sermon with a reminder that you will either fall upon the rock of ages and be broken with repentance and faith, or the rock of ages will fall upon you and you will be crushed. Those who have faith in Christ Jesus will be saved.

  • Our Only Boast is Jesus
    Jun 23 2024

    Sermon Text: Galatians 6:11-18

In this conclusion to his letter to the churches in Galatia Paul takes the quill to provide a final point and a signature. He drives home the point that this book is ultimately not about circumcision it is about salvation. Paul tells them that neither circumcision nor uncircumcision have any value - but rather the value is in a new creation. Paul tells them that the only reason he has to boast is in the cross of Christ. We ought to also find our only boast, and our only hope in Jesus and his cross.

From Galatians 6:1-10. In this text, Paul encourages us to bear one another's burdens. He argues this through Spiritual Restoration, caring for Spiritual Leaders, and the Spiritual Harvest. Paul gives a good standard for caring for all but especially caring for the household of faith.

  • The Flesh or The Spirit
    Jun 9 2024

Sermon Text: Galatians 5:16-25. The Apostle Paul teaches the Galatians that there are two ways to live. You can live gratifying the desires of the flesh and run a hellbound race. Or you can crucify the flesh and the deeds of the flesh along with its passions - and seek to glorify God. The Fruit of the Spirit and the deeds of the flesh are incompatible.

Paul laments that the people have been deceived he mourns that they were running well and someone had deceived them. He reminds them they are free and should use their freedom to serve one another. This text gives us appropriate caution against being deceived by others and being careful not to mislead others. It serves as an instruction to us that we ought to use our freedom well, and to use it to serve others, not to to serve our flesh.
