Dresden heads to Bock Ordered Books. He follows up with Shiela and figures a black court vampire has made a visit during the night. While he is there, Alicia and Li Xian show up to intimate Bock into revealing who has purchased the copies of Die Lied der Erlking, but Harry stops the interrogation.

Harry confronts Alicia and Li Xian. Alicia takes control of Harry’s mind and manages to read the information Harry got from the drive stick. Alicia, now known as Corpsetaker, demands Li Xian to kill him.

Here we discuss Chapter 14 & 15 in which Butters examines leftovers, preaches the gospel of SUV, and helps Harry flip a USB drive repeated.

Dresden and Butters return to the Forensic Institute to find any information they can. Butters gets a look at Bartleby’s body which has been cut up and eviscerated. While Butters is performing the examination of Eduardo Mendoza, Bartlesby’s research assistants show up to claim his possessions, one of which Harry discovers is a ghoul. Harry rejoins Butters and finally recognizes Mendoza as Bony Tony the smuggler who has been hiding a thumb drive in his stomach.

Harry and Butters leave for Billy’s apartment to examine the USB drive. While they check the drive, Harry checks his phone messages to find out Murphy has safely made it to Hawaii and that Shiela from Bocks thinks something is wrong at the store. After finding out the content of the drive, Harry asks Billy to take Butters back to his apartment.

Here we discuss Chapter 13 in which Harry goes on a bloody treasure hunt. When X marks the spot, he finds Detective Rawlins who cuts him unnecessary slack.

Dresden goes around town to check out the spots marked on the map. He stops first at Wacker but doesn’t find much beyond the feeling of the dark energy. Next Harry checks out The Field Museum. He finds out a Dr. Bartlesby was killed and the energy is that of a different user than the others. Detective Rawlins finds him at the scene and helps out Harry instead of detaining him.

Harry and the Alphas leave the area and go to Georgia’s parent’s home. Georgia and Billy are concerned for Harry and worried about his recent changes in behavior. Dresden comes clean about the coin from the fallen and that he may be under influence of the demon Lasciel.

Georgia and Billy lend Harry her SUV after driving him back to his newly abused Blue Beetle. Harry calls on Mortimer and asks him for the assistance of the spirits to find the necromancers. Mort declines until he finds out that Murphy is involved. Mortimer calls upon the spirits and they find not only one Necromancer but six.
