Now that the sunsets will reach five pm in the next day or so, my nightly ritual of watching for the daylight to increase will ease as I focus on the ever-warming sun, even when the nights still may reach below zero. I find each day to be filled with gratitude and positive intentions to engage with life as the days seem to speed by.

We have finally reached the halfway point in astrological winter. There is an old belief that if the ground hog sees its shadow, winter will continue for six weeks. Regardless of how the weather goes, every day is an opportunity to express gratitude, love and good intentions toward others.

Today, I turned the calendar page to February, a month away from meteorological spring. We are two thirds’ there. Tomorrow, Ground hogs Day, we are halfway to astrological spring. Every day, I am grateful to be able to channel heart love from the Source that keeps life alive every day.

I check the weather forecast each day, the first thing in the morning, to see what time the sun sets. I have been doing this for years, going back to when my wife could drive home from work at five without using her lights. The time has moved slowly this cold January. I trust that my timing is up to my team.

We have a five-foot stone grinding wheel with a hole in the middle balancing on a stone wall in front of our home. The snow creates the image of a large bagel or doughnut waiting for some jelly. It reminds me that when life is bland, we can add some positive sweetness to it with positive actions.

I chuckled when I noticed that a couple of benches behind our garage were all filled with snow. There was no room to sit. It reminded me that often our minds are so filled with thoughts that there is no opportunity to pause and rest and communicate with our source. It is good to take a positive grateful breath and sit for a few moments.

With a couple of feet of new snow, the best approach for me is to take my time making a path to the car. When I was younger, I would just dive into things without thinking ahead. I hope I have learned to set my intentions that what I am attempting to do is the right way for the right purpose.
