Michael Stachowitsch - Marine Biologist

Michael Stachowitsch received his B.Sc. degree at the Univ. of Pittsburgh and his Ph.D. at the Univ. of Vienna. He has successfully managed to maintain a career as a marine biologist in a landlocked country, conducting research in the Adriatic and Red Seas and teaching numerous university courses. He is the long-term Austrian coordinator of a Mediterranean sea turtle conservation project in Turkey and represents Austria at the International Whaling Commission. Michael's many activities as a scientist, author, translator and editor have taken him to beaches around the globe: the fauna and flora differ from shore to shore, the beach litter is astoundingly uniform - and abundant. Decades on hands and knees with a camera yielded his book ‘The Beachcomber’s Guide to Marine Debris’ and revealed unsettling truths about human attitudes and behavior.

Startagers! είναι να ακουστεί δυνατά ότι η ηλικία δεν είναι εμπόδιο στην αλλαγή που οι ίδιοι επιθυμούμε. Στον πρώτο κύκλο επεισοδίων θα μοιραστούμε ιστορίες από την Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό με ανθρώπους που δεν φοβήθηκαν να ξεκινήσουν οι ίδιοι την αλλαγή που ονειρεύτηκαν. Δεν περίμεναν κάποιον να τους δείξει τον δρόμο, άκουσαν την φωνή τους και ξεκίνησαν το ταξίδι, χωρίς η ηλικία να σταθεί εμπόδιο στα σχέδιά τους. Ο πρώτος κύκλος επεισοδίων υλοποιείται στο πλαίσιο του Εκπαιδευτικού προγράμματος Let’s Get Loud! Startagers! στοχεύει στην περιβαλλοντική ευαισθητοποίηση ατόμων μέσης και τρίτης ηλικίας και στην καταπολέμηση των ηλικιακών διακρίσεων.

 

Υλοποιείται από την Startagers σε συνεργασία με τη MEDASSET, και με αποκλειστική δωρεά από το ΤΙΜΑ Κοινωφελές Ίδρυμα, στο πλαίσιο του προγράμματος Σημεία Στήριξης που συγχρηματοδοτούν 8 κοινωφελείς οργανισμοί.
