Mercedes had a little bit of luck and a massive amount of improvement over a short span that has now equaled wins in both the Austrian GP and the British Grand Prix. With Max Verstappen and Lando Norris crashing one another out of the Austrian GP, George Russell took advantage and notched Mercedes first win of the season. In an even more historic British GP, Sir Lewis Hamilton was able to outlast both Red Bull and McLaren (with a little help from some poor McLaren strategy) for his 9th win at his home GP and his first win in almost 1000 days.
