  • Ep.34 Powerful Tools for Family Finances BYU Women's Conference 2024
    Jul 5 2024

In this special episode, I am excited to share a recap of my presentation at the BYU Women’s Conference in May 2024. It was an incredible experience, and I am thrilled to bring these valuable financial principles to you.

During my talk at the conference, I highlighted the importance of setting your financial house in order, drawing inspiration from both scripture and modern-day prophets. I emphasized that understanding and learning financial principles is crucial for making better financial decisions. Sharing personal anecdotes from my own experiences growing up in Brazil and the financial mistakes I made early on, I stressed the need for financial literacy and responsible money management.

I outlined four key principles that can change your financial course:

Principle 1: Understand and Learn Financial Principles: Observe, learn, and teach money management within your family.

Principle 2: Teach Our Families: Engage your kids in financial discussions, teach them to earn, save, give, and spend wisely

Principle 3: Achieve Debt Freedom: Pay Off Debt Quickly and Avoid New Debt

Principle 4: Experience Temporal and Spiritual Blessings

By embracing these principles, you can reduce anxiety, increase spiritual receptivity, and gain the freedom to choose how to use your resources. I concluded with encouraging words, reminding everyone that small, consistent efforts can lead to significant financial blessings, allowing us to serve others and build a secure financial future.

  • Ep.32 BEFORE Establishing your Financial Goals Pay Attention to this
    Apr 18 2024

In this week's episode, we discuss the importance of balance in various aspects of our lives as a foundation for establishing our vision and achieving financial well-being.

Drawing from my study with Professor Pedro Calabrês' current course - "Intelligence for Results Formation," we explore the seven recommended balances we should aim for to increase our success in making progress in life, including becoming good with money and achieving financial freedom and prosperity.

Here are the 7 areas that he (and science) recommend we need to take care of first so that we can perform at our best:

    1. Circadian Rhythm
    2. Movement (and Exercise)
    3. Nutritional
    4. Emotional
    5. Interpersonal
    6. Intellectual
    7. Spiritual

What caught my attention the most was the circadian rhythm, of which I had no knowledge before his classes. He emphasizes the impact of maintaining a consistent daily routine aligned with the sun's cycle — meal times, waking up and sleeping at approximately the same time, exercising and moving, and getting some sunlight.

We also highlight the value of surrounding ourselves with supportive relationships and engaging in activities that challenge and stimulate personal growth, which will directly affect the health of our minds.

We encourage you to reflect on your habits and attitudes, identifying areas for improvement to enhance your overall well-being so that you can progressively become the person you want to be. The best part is that, by prioritizing these seven balances, we will cultivate a more harmonious and purposeful life, not only in our financial life but also in our overall happiness.

  • Ep.30 Bridging the Gap to Your Financial Success
    Mar 20 2024

No matter how much we talk about goals, if you use an achievement-only approach, your results will most likely not last. Scientific studies prove that the most successful approach for lasting results is having a compelling reason and focusing on who you want to become, your identity. Researchers like Dr. Edwin Locke, Dr. Barry Goldman, Dr. Gary Latham, and even author James Clear have concluded that personal identity goals strategies support successful behavior change and goal achievement (Goldman, Masterson, Locke, et al., 2002).

In this week's episode, we discussed a simple 3-way approach designed to help you better set your goals for becoming good with money and achieving financial prosperity. This approach starts with who you want to become and your vision for the future; then, we look at who you are right now and then what strategies we need to use to bridge the gap.

These three simple yet powerful steps that can transform your vision into reality:

There: Visualize your future financial goals. Who is the person who has the results you want to achieve?

Now: Take a moment to reflect on yourself today. What are your habits? How do you use your time? What are your emotional and behavioral patterns?

The Bridge: Now, identify what you need to change to become who you want to be: the person who has the financial results you desire.

We invite you to take some time to complete this exercise. It could be the crucial first step toward achieving financial freedom and realizing your dreams. We're rooting for you!

  • Ep. 29 Unraveling Generational Money Beliefs with Energy Awareness Coach Maren Rasmussen
    Feb 29 2024

In this week's episode of "The Money is Not Your Problem Podcast," we delve into the journey of Maren Rasmussen, a certified life coach from St. George, Utah. Maren opens up about her upbringing, which, despite outward appearances of affluence, was shadowed by underlying beliefs inherited from generations past.

Growing up, Maren witnessed her parents' struggles with scarcity, stemming from their own impoverished backgrounds. Despite their efforts to provide a comfortable life for their family, the fear of not having enough lingered, subtly influencing every financial decision.

One poignant memory Maren recalls is her mother's reaction to finding holes in her socks—an embarrassment rooted in the fear of appearing less than well-off. These moments left Maren feeling conflicted as she grappled with the disparity between outward appearances and internal anxieties about money.

As Maren matured, so did her understanding of the complexities surrounding wealth and abundance. Through her life coach work, she explored the connection between energy, mindset, and financial well-being. She realized that true abundance goes beyond material wealth—it's about shifting beliefs and embracing a mindset of abundance.

Maren's journey towards financial empowerment was not without its challenges. She recounts moments of confusion and self-doubt, influenced by societal norms and religious teachings that equated money with evil. However, through introspection and personal growth, she began to dismantle these limiting beliefs, embracing the idea that money is simply a tool—a means to amplify one's inherent values and character traits.

As a mother and stepmother, Maren is committed to instilling healthy money habits in the next generation. She emphasizes the importance of teaching children about financial literacy and modeling positive behaviors around saving, investing, and giving back.

Maren leaves us with a powerful message: the journey to financial freedom begins with a shift in mindset. By unraveling generational money beliefs and embracing abundance, we can rewrite our financial narratives and create a future of prosperity for ourselves and those who come after us.

Join us next week for another episode. Remember, with the right mindset, the money is not your problem—it's your pathway to abundance.

Have you ever set New Year's resolutions multiple times and failed to achieve them? If so, why should you set them again this year? In this episode, we delve into Jon Acuff's approach of examining the best moments from the past to shape and establish goals.

Drawing from his book, 'All It Takes is a Goal,' we present three steps for you to explore and determine if they work for you:
