Leon Draisaitl just became the NHL's highest paid player after the Edmonton Oilers forked over $112 million on an eight year extension! Draisaitl, who is entering the last year of his current contract at $8.5 million, will become the highest paid player once the new deal kicks in next season. He may not have this title for long as his teammates next contract will be up in 2026...

In other news, Seth Jarvis also signed a big deal to stay with the Carolina Hurricanes over the next eight years for $63.2 million. The young stud has earned every penny and continues to rise up the draft board in this years fantasy hockey season.

Lastly, Torey Krug will miss the entire 2024-25 season after undergoing surgery on his ankle. Justin Faulk should be the next man in line to take over the first powerplay unit, which means he could be a sneaky good add at the end of the draft!
