    NJ Fire Guys
    Run #: 24-022
    Date: July 12, 2024
    Guest: Joseph Palombi, Jr

Firefighter Joe Palombi of the Seattle Fire Department (WA) has over 17 years of service prior to that. He began as a volunteer in Wrightstown and Jacobstown. He was first hired as one of the original paid firefighters at Hamilton Crosswicks. Joe then moved to Bordentown Twp Dist 2. He also worked EMS to ensure he was well-rounded.

After leaving Jersey, Joe first headed for coastal South Carolina. While there, he served as a member of the Georgetown County Technical Rescue Team, where he received numerous unit citations. Joe also enjoyed the ocean, and was a Water Rescue Operator and Rescue Swimmer for his department. Joe is recipient of South Carolina Medal of Valor.

Joe loves training and always strives to be better, often putting himself through advanced training and making trips all over the country to master his craft and learn from the best of the best. In training around the country, Joe fell in love with the Pacific Northwest. That’s when he decided he wanted to become a Seattle firefighter, having always dreamt of being a “Big City Firefighter”.

In chase of the dream, Joe became a Seattle Police Officer prior to his appointment to the Seattle Fire Department. Joe is currently assigned as the Tillerman on Ladder Co 12 in the Rainier Valley, one of the nations most diverse areas. Joe plays an active role in the Recruit and Operations Training Divisions. He is also part of the Recruit Prep and Cadet Programs having helped developed the department’s Fire Prep program, where interested individuals can get hands-on training prior to being hired.

Joe is also active with the SFD Peer Support Team. Joe and his wife Gina (also a first responder) are currently starting a nonprofit for first responders and their families aimed to provide peer assistance in a safe location on their farm, utilizing their animals to provide emotional support to those in need.

Joe credits his accomplishments and accolades to everyone that supported him, and specifically to being fortunate enough to build his foundation in this career as a New Jersey fireman.
