    Our guest host today is GW PA student Liz Sanders, MPH, RDN.  Liz is joined by Clare McNutt, to discuss alternative career paths for PAs. Clare is an alumni of the GW PA program and serves as an adjunct faculty member for the program.

    After practicing as a PA for more than 10 years, she co-founded Mindoula Health, where she serves as the Vice President of Partnerships and Collaborative Care. Clare discussed her inspiration for moving into this non-traditional role and provides a few suggestions for early career PAs as they consider career choices for their future.

  • Clinical PAs as Scholars

    In this podcast, Eric Tezlaff discusses his research in provider burnout and how he got involved in research as a busy PA in clinical practice.

    Mr. Tetzlaff is a physician assistant in the Department of Medical Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His research interests are examining the APP workforce and provider burnout.

    Mr. Tetzlaff has published in various peer reviewed journals and in 2018, he was the recipient of the AAPA Publishing Award for his paper, “National Study of Burnout and Career Satisfaction among Physician Assistants in Oncology: Implications for Team-Based Care.”  

    Recently, Mr. Tetzlaff was the recipient of the Association of Physician Assistants in Oncology Research Award. The three-year award will allow for a Longitudinal Study of Provider Wellness, Collaborative Practice and Career Satisfaction Among Physician Assistants in Oncology.

  • Suicide Prevention - Advocating for Others

    In this podcast, we are joined by Ali Walker to discuss the important issue of suicide prevention. Professor Walker is an alumni from the GWU PA program and currently serves as an adjunct instructor within the Department of Physician Assistant Studies. 

    Since 2017, she has served on the board of the DC chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and is an educator and advocate for suicide prevention.

    Dr. Lisa Alexander joins PA Connections to discuss the opioid epidemic and what PAs can do within their own communities and practices. Dr. Alexander recently retired from GW after being on the faculty for nearly 40 years and holding multiple different leadership positions within the department and PA program. In addition to her academic preparation in PA studies and education, she has a masters of public health. She has served in various leadership positions in the PA profession including as the president of the PAEA in 2018. During that time she was very involved in PA education around opioid use.
