    Lt Hardacre delivers her squad to the Spaceport where a Sergeant is uncertain what to do. There's a medical frigate ready to launch; several hundred frightened colonists; and a flight of UPP MiGs. Facing a UPP invasion, a xenomorph threat, and one remaining way off-planet, choices are narrow ... then it's all about an elevator shaft down to the base of the colony beanstalk, hardening slime and lots of resin ... and an act of self-sacrifice to contain the threat ... for now, at least ...

    It used to be better, of course, it did. In the golden age of the High Republic, when there was enough to eat and enough hope, when people could lift their eyes and see beyond the horizon, beyond the day. Children were born happy and grew up rich.

    Now that’s not what we’ve got. Now we’ve got Jakku.

    A harsh desert world, Jakku is a lawless place that’s home to thieves, outlaws, and refugees. During the final years of the Galactic Civil War, Jakku was the site of a secret Imperial research base and served as a jumping-off point for warships heading into the Unknown Regions. The Empire made a last stand above the frontier planet, leading to a pitched battle between rebel and Imperial fleets. Jakku’s sandy wastes are now littered with gigantic wrecks, and newly created townships are full of desperate scavengers who head into the desert searching for parts that can be salvaged and sold.

    And you, who are you? This is what we’ve got, yes. What are you going to make of it?

We get some insights into how each of our protagonists live and how they serve their Court. Eventually the four are called in and given a new task, the hunt for another Crew of their kind lost during Hurricane Danny a year and a half ago.
