  • RM E33 Camouflage or Blaze Orange?
    Jul 2 2024

As a full-time missionary, you learned to live the Savior's invitation to "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 5:16) Steven Lund, General Young Men's President said, "Anything we do , to distract from or diminish or camouflage or hide that light frustrates the purposes of being born at this time." Since you've been home from your mission, have you ever been tempted to blend in with the crowd, go with the flow, or make your discipleship difficult to detect? In this episode, Brian joins Sean to draw upon his experience as a hunter and explore the spiritual dangers of living a life of camouflage compared to the joy and blessing of going "blaze orange" as a true disciple of Jesus Christ.

  • RM E31 Home Earlier Than Expected-What's next?
    Jun 18 2024

Many missionaries, for various reasons, find themselves coming home from their missions earlier than expected. Despite having given their best effort, difficult things happen, and it becomes necessary for the Lord to change the context of their service. (D&C 124:49) Whether returning to a service mission or a life of continued discipleship back home, these returned missionaries have an opportunity to do much good. They face many challenges and obstacles in the transition, but with the help of the Lord, their families, and friends they can move forward in faith.

In this episode, after listening to a powerful clip from Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, Sean and Brian interview two wonderful, returned missionaries (Jace Gunter and Millie Snelders) who came home earlier than expected. Each share their unique experiences and the lessons that they have learned about discipleship as they have made their difficult transition home.

  • RM E27 Life is a Climb!
    May 21 2024

Aaron Shamy, the 1999 X-games gold medalist in Speed Rock Climbing, loves to climb mountains. His love of climbing has taken him all over the world, including summiting the Matterhorn in Switzerland. Now a teacher at the Utah Valley Institute of Religion, Aaron joins Brian and Sean to talk about the mountains that returned missionaries and all disciples of Christ have to climb on their journey through life. Aaron relates the many resources that a rock climber has (carabiner, rope, harness, and belayer) to the resources we have in our own gospel climb. Rather than "free soloing" through life, our covenants bind us to the Savior and keep us safe on our journey. Aaron is an example of what can happen when we put our true identity as a child of God and disciple of Christ first while still enjoying the adventures of life!
