  • Copa, Coaching and Chasing Medals w/ Seth Vertelney
    Jul 24 2024

The 2024 Copa America served delivered a black eye to hosts, the United States, both on and off the pitch. An underwhelming group stage exit has left a void for the head coaching role, while the coordination of the tournament with CONMEBOL has raised eyebrows about facilities and security for the future. Or has it? To sift through the smoke and substance, we caught up with Seth Vertelney, managing editor of Pro Soccer Wire:

    • Nii Wallace-Bruce chatted with Seth Vertelney about the Copa America tournament, particularly the performance of the United States.
    • Seth gave his view on the direction that US Soccer should take with the next head coach.
    • Further, Seth also mentioned some of the lowlights of the tournament and how these will be addressed before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
    • Finally, with the Olympic competition starting this week, Seth gave some insights into how the US men's and women's team might fare in France.

    Jul 22 2024

The WNBA has reached the midseason break, marked by the All-Star Game and the Paris Olympics. After the wave of attention and hype surrounding the rookie seasons of Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, we all probably need a breather. Nevertheless, there is still much to be discussed, so we caught up with author and writer, Lyndsey D'Arcangelo to find out more about the latest from the W:

    • Nii Wallace-Bruce chatted with Lyndsey D'arcangelo about the All-Star Game as well as the competitive rivalry between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese.
    • Lyndsey also explained the new television rights deal for the league, set to be a massive increase vs the current agreement.
    • Further, Lyndsey gave insights into how the league will expand in the near future, with Toronto and the Bay Area at the front of the queue.
    • Finally, Lyndsey shared her view on the upcoming women's basketball competition at Paris as well as how the rest of the WNBA season might pan out.

  • Winds of change for the Toronto Argos with Paul Woods
    Jul 15 2024

There was a hint of irony that a Hamilton-based team was responsible for the end of Bill Manning's time as Argonauts' President. While the final straw came on the soccer side of Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment, it did also occur at the stadium of the biggest rivals for the CFL's Toronto Argonauts. With the season underway, we connected with CFL historian, author and friend of PSP, Paul Woods.

    • Nii Wallace-Bruce and Paul Woods discussed the first quarter of the season and progress of the Argonauts offense under Cameron Dukes.
    • They also examined the keys to success on the defensive side of the ball.
    • With Manning out and Chad Kelly's suspension in progress, Paul gave his thoughts on what the team might do and how the front office may look for the future.
