  • 157. And All Beautiful Things Come to an End
    Jun 4 2024

This is the very last episode of the Pursuing HER Purpose podcast. And as always, we’re here to talk about how we came to this very difficult decision. We hope you leave this episode with understanding and inspiration as you go forth in your entrepreneurial journey.

We share what it ultimately came down to when the three of us decided to shut this business down. The conversation wasn’t easy and we all took a weekend to really think things over before having a more formal heart-to-heart.

When it comes to closing a business there are certain nuts and bolts that take time to work out. We talk about who we needed to inform first and why it was important for us to let those individuals know. It is important to all three of us that we fulfill all the outstanding promises we’ve made and want you to know that if you are a student of ours, you will continue to have lifetime access to any of our courses you may have purchased.

A sincere thank you goes out to each and every one of you who have ever downloaded an episode, supported us, and cheered for us along the way. All of us are so glad this business happened and we are all better business owners because of it. We are cheering for you whether it’s time for you to make a push, a pivot, a pause, or otherwise in your business. There is so much ahead for each and every one you!

  • 155. What We've Learned in 4+ Years of Podcasting
    May 21 2024

This is a great episode to listen to if you have your own podcast, might be thinking of starting your own podcast someday, or for those of you who do any public speaking. Over the last four years we have grown three podcasts, hosted over 300 episodes, and have been guests on over 100 shows. At this point we have taught many women how to podcast and Abby even coaches women on how to improve their podcasting skills. We are sharing our biggest takeaways when it comes to all things podcasting throughout this episode.

The most important thing to remember is to stay true to who you are. Think about what makes you unique. The biggest thing that leads to burnout when it comes to podcasting is when someone isn’t being authentically themselves. We share an exercise you can do that can help you get feedback from others on what makes you, you.

We also want to continuously improve as podcasters. We offer suggestions on what you can do to make sure this is happening. Be sure you are listening to your audience’s feedback. When Amy and Abby first started podcasting they got feedback on the pace of their natural delivery and implemented those suggestions right away.

Finally, we touch base on how it is so important to ask your audience to help you. This can be from everything to growing your show, to rating & reviewing it, to purchasing your own offers. And don’t just ask them one time. Ask them over and over and over again. Your audience can’t help you unless they know how!

  • 154. Resilience As a Business Owner
    May 14 2024

You might be surprised with some of the points driven home in this episode. It’s Amy with a solo one this week and I’m focusing in on what it really means to be resilient as a business owner. I believe this is one of my strengths as an entrepreneur and I’m not going to tell you that there isn’t a time or a place for a pivot or to move away from something.

To be resilient in business means to be able to recover quickly from setbacks. Mistakes happen, we all know that. But what you do to bounce back from those failures is what is going to make you flex your resiliency muscles. In this episode, I share my personal journey from my beginning days of blogging to how those lessons directly transposed into some of the most important skills I brought with me when my sister Krystle and I started Expecting and Empowered.

If something in your business doesn’t feel right or if it truly isn’t working, don’t be afraid to make an intentional pivot. Remind yourself that what you are building today will come with you on your next adventure. We want you to tune in, listen to your heart and your schedule, and make sure that you are doing things for your mind that allow you to move forward if and when you’re ready.

    May 7 2024

Today’s guest, Jeanelle Teves, is the Chief Commercial Officer of Bugaboo. She is also a speaker, a wife, and a mom of two kids; ages three and six. Jeanelle is crushing it in corporate America and has a stay at home partner. We cover both of these topics in our interview and we touch on confidence. Jeanelle shares how she built her own confidence and how she fully embodies it.

We know lots of our listeners have times in their lives where they contemplate a career move. Maybe you’ve thought about leaving your job all together and being a full-time stay at home parent? Jeanelle shares how she knows when it is time to make a change. She also manages a fully remote team and knows that for moms who are working from home, it can be easy to blur the lines between professional and mom. She shares her tips on how to set some boundaries both at home and with your work place.

In Jeanelle’s family, she is the breadwinner and her husband is the full-time stay at home working parent. Jeanelle talks to us about how they came to this decision as a family and what she does to support her husband in finding time for himself outside of all the household work he puts in.

  • 152. How to Actually Achieve the Goals You Set with Kristin Burke
    Apr 30 2024

We have our first ever goal achievement coach on the show today, Kristin Burke. Kristin also happens to a student from the very first mastermind cohort that we launched. Today, Kristin is talking with us about ways to gain clarity, grow our confidence, and not only make but actually progress towards achieving our goals.

First off, Kristin explains to us what a goal achievement coach is and how she got into this line of work. She also shares the four characteristics that she’s seen time and time again set goal achievers apart from goal setters. Kristin explains what the three major roadblocks are that get in the way of us achieving our goals and how we can tell when it might be time to pivot or re-write the goals that we are working on.

Having a vision for yourself and working on strengthening your mindset can have a huge impact on helping you achieve your goals. If you’re not sure where to start when it comes to writing your own vision, Kristin recommends simply asking yourself where you want to be in three to five years from now. She also shares some things that will help strengthen your mindset like facing your fears, having a plan, and tracking.

  • 151. 5 Business Philosophies That Changed Everything
    Apr 23 2024

There are five business philosophies that I, Kat, have found to really change everything for me when it comes to being an entrepreneur. Today I am getting behind the mic to share what these are and the impact each one of them has had on my life. Now, they aren’t going to be your typical marketing strategies that you might hear in a business class but more along the lines of what is going to help you show up in your business in order to succeed.

The first strategy I delve into is taking no “L’s”. I explain what I mean by this and why it is the philosophy that I am most proud of overall. Next, I cover why I don’t go alone. Finding mentors has made a major difference for me on my entrepreneurial journey, and spoiler alert, they don’t always have to be paid options. Then I get into why it’s so important to make sure you are focusing on revenue generating activities within your business. I even share an activity that you can do that will help you figure out which tasks are actually pulling in an income for you. After that, I share a personal story about living out my core values and why this philosophy is key to succeeding in business. And finally, I share why operating from a place of integrity is my ultimate not only as an entrepreneur, but as a leader as well.

This list of strategies is meant to help you reflect on where you might want to take your business in the future or perhaps it will help you realize what areas of business you have grown in. Chances are, you started your business to help other people in some way. And we are here to help you make a bigger impact on those whose lives you are making a difference in each and every day.

  • 150. Still Stuck? 3 Tips for Climbing Your Inner Mountain
    Apr 16 2024

It’s Abby here with a solo episode this week and you guys know I love anything that has to do with personal growth and I love reading. So I thought, why not do an episode based entirely on one of the most impactful books that I’ve read recently; The Mountain Is You by Brianna Wiest. I talk you through some of my biggest takeaways from this book that have also really resonated with other female entrepreneurs in my life.

Amy, Kat and I all know that as an entrepreneur it’s not just business and it’s not just personal. The two go hand in hand. Oftentimes as women, if it feels like you’re thriving in one area it can feel like you’re depleted in the other. We hear it so often from this community that you have a lot going on and you feel stuck. You can’t get out of a rut. But what if I told you that your problems aren't problems, they are symptoms of you?

Throughout the episode I walk you through how you can overcome these internal barriers and turn perceived obstacles into opportunities. I go through the key points of the book including understanding what the mountain is, tools for climbing the mountain, and how to navigate the ascent. I also touch on how to apply these concepts to your business.

If this message is hitting home for you and you know another female entrepreneur who could benefit from listening, we would love it if you could share this episode with her!
