Mikey Walsh and Brandon Walsh are brothers whose family is preparing to move because developers want to build a golf course in the place of their neighborhood -- unless enough money is raised to stop the construction of the golf course, and that's quite doubtful. But when Mikey stumbles upon a treasure map of the famed "One-Eyed" Willy's hidden fortune, Mikey, Brandon, and their friends Lawrence "Chunk" Cohen, Clark "Mouth" Devereaux, Andrea "Andy" Carmichael, Stefanie "Stef" Steinbrenner, and Richard "Data" Wang set out on a quest to find the treasure in hopes of saving their neighborhood. But trying to beat them to it are criminals Mama Fratelli and her sons Jake Fratelli, Francis Fratelli, and the severely disfigured Lotney "Sloth" Fratelli.

Escaped felons on the loose, a pirates treasure waiting to be found, and a gaggle of friendships we all wish we had when we were kids brought together to save their childhood home from a shady development deal – This is our 2 year anniversary since we turned the projector off and the 35th anniversary of this classic film, so sit back as we Remake The Goonies RIGHT!

Clips selected from 1985's The Goonies.

  • Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace | Remake This Movie RIGHT Anniversary Special
    Aug 16 2019

In Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) is a young apprentice Jedi knight under the tutelage of Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson). Anakin Skywalker (Jake Lloyd), who will later father Luke and Leia Skywalker and become known throughout the galaxy as The Emperor's loyal right hand Darth Vader, is just a 9-year-old boy with extraordinary potential. When the Trade Federation cuts off all routes to the planet Naboo, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan are assigned to protect Queen Amidala (Natalie Portman) in hopes of securing a peaceful end to a large-scale interplanetary trade dispute.

For two decades, The Phantom Menace has, much like the Empire, lay in hiding while waiting for the right time to strike. Midi-chlorians, Trade Federations, and Jar Jar Binks have kept this series from its own potential for far too long. Since Disney seems to be in no hurry to correct this wrong, it is left up to our Cinematic Architects to roll up our sleeves and return to work as we celebrate our 1 year anniversary of podcast retirement in style: We're going to Remake Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace RIGHT!

Clips selected from 1999's Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.

  • That's A Wrap | Remake This Movie RIGHT Series Finale
    Aug 14 2018

Remake This Movie RIGHT began as a tiny nugget of fun on The Hollywood Outsider Podcast, where we would randomly recast popular classic films with updated actors, just to see who could come up with the craziest scenario. That grew into an idea I wanted to explore: what if, using the podcast medium, we had a show that celebrated both the good and the bad of any given film, and then instead of the hosts just bashing everything for laughs, we instead applied that fan magic to creating the modern film that we would WANT to see. It seemed like a no-brainer, and by using various hosts instead of the same three every week, it also struck me as special. More importantly, it was original.

Therefore I created Remake This Movie RIGHT! I definitely didn’t come up with every idea on my own. I collaborated with close friends and fellow podcasters Troy Heinritz and Brian Williams on how to make the format the best it could be, which meant of course bringing in our own voice talent in Mr. Wayne Henderson – courtesy of MediaVoiceOvers.com, of course - to craft a parody movie trailer tying everything that came before it together in one neat bow. Rob Rowald assisted me as he always does with everything technical to improve our presence on the internets, and Dustin Baker worked that graphical witchcraft to “remake” the Hollywood Outsider logo as Remake’s. Last, but definitely not least, was the inspiration from my former co-host Justin Macumber, who was constantly an advocate for a new, fresher take on beloved properties. Everything came together, and while the majority of the idea and production fell to me, Remake This Movie RIGHT would not be where it is without the help and shoulder to lean of from those listed above.

And now, it is time to say goodbye. For the past 4 years, I have personally put so many hours of blood sweat and tears into this show, and I can honestly say, my heart is full from all of the great responses and wonderful moments that stem from this show. Deciding to end the show has never been about a lack of interest, it has solely landed on the amount of time it takes to do each episode properly. After I wrapped Season 3, I had honestly moved on and felt we ended so strongly, it’s better to go out on top. But the fans wouldn’t have it. Email after email, Facebook messages, tweets, the comments kept coming. So much that I finally decided to bring the show back for one final season, and give it the send-off it – and the listeners – truly deserve.

So here we are, at the end of the road. I’m left with bittersweet memories of so many great moments. We did a couple of live episodes with audiences shouting their ideas and forcing us to change course that really warmed my heart. Wesley Snipes, the one true Blade, dug our Blade episode. And, of course, we had S.S. Wilson come by several times, which always made me smile, and even to remake his own film, Short Circuit. What a fantastic story to be able to tell.

As I close the show, I want to personally thank every listener who supported the show. Without you, we wouldn’t have made it this far. Also, thank you to the numerous hosts who have dropped by over the years. Each and every one of you contributed in your own unique voice to the success of this show, and there have been so many wonderful ideas over the years that STILL deserve to be salvaged by Hollywood. I also want to thank my family, who have supported this endeavor and all of the time it has taken away from other events and memories along the way. Your strength is what gives me mine.

And lastly, thank you once again to Wayne Henderson, for everything he has done for this podcast since the beginning. I can honestly say, this podcast wouldn’t have been the same without his voice bringing it all together after each episode. He has always been willing to do whatever nonsense I came up with as a script, and has never complained or shied away. Wayne is the best in the biz, as they say.

With that, this is your host, Aaron Peterson, saying goodbye and thank you to all of you Cinematic Architects. This has been a fantastic time in my life, and love to have shared it with each and every one of you. You can still find me talking about movies over at The Hollywood Outsider and creating stories with candid discussion on Smirk, but Remake has officially used its last reel of film.

The final credits have rolled on this podcast, so remember that every film you love will get a reboot someday, and only you can Remake This Movie RIGHT!
