  • Restless Presents: Miguel's Immigration Story! From Singapore to Canada
    Apr 19 2023

Welcome back restless pod friends! Or should we say, we're back! Blame Alex's naiveté. Despite our absence and lack of loyalty to our fans (sorry Helena in New Zealand!) we hope you will stick around for this episode, as it is truly special story.

We interview Miguel Buebos to learn about his immigration journey from his home in Singapore to becoming a Canadian citizen. We discuss his Filipino heritage, his life growing up in Singapore, and how these identities intersect for him. Then, Miguel and Alexis discuss the process of becoming a Canadian citizen.

If you want to learn more about his story, see his sister, Nina Buebos’ take on their life growing up here:

  • Restless about Religion w. Special Guest Chanté Miller-Dueck aka @SliceyFingers
    Jul 20 2022

Restlessness and Religion- they just go together right? At some point in our lives, we have all tried to find the meaning of life, something to make sense of what seems utterly pointless as ants in the middle of an endless universe. On this special interview episode, we talk to the kind, lovely and talented hairstylist Chanté who frequently went to church as a young person. Whether it was attending service, volunteering, leading youth groups or hanging with church friends, it made up a huge part of her identity. Chanté shares with us how church framed every aspect of her life, when she knew she had to leave it behind, and where she stands on religion now. The Restless girls also share their P.O.V. on religion, with Alex growing up Mennonite, and Alexis growing up Catholic.

Where do you stand on religion? Do you share similar experiences with Chanté ?We'd love to hear what you think about this episode!

  • EP. 11 - WINE AND TRUE CRIME: Why do Women Love True Crime? W. Special Guest Tanya Jaggard
    Sep 16 2021

In our eleventh episode, we have our first guest! Our friend Tanya Jaggard is a wonderful baker (@saltbutterandsunshine on IG) and an avid true crime listener. Lucky for us, she is a walking true crime encyclopedia who possesses a Bachelor of Psychology which gave her a firm foundation on the mentality of serial killers.

We dive into some popular theories and research on why women love true crime and why men do not consume true crime nearly as much as women do. We also have some crucial conversations on the impact of true crime stories on our mental health, the possibility of true crime as a feminist concept, copaganda and the lack of intersectionality in true crime media.

It’s a long one, but so worth it.

Stay tuned to the end of the episode to find out why we think we are drawn to the genre, and let us know why you are drawn (or not) to true crime.
