Riding the Grief Rollercoaster and Letting Go of Outcomes with Lisa Mesecar, OTR

  • Resumen

  • In this episode I talk with Lisa Mesecar, OTR. Lisa is a Pediatric Occupational Therapist who has worked with children in several different settings throughout her 25 year career. Currently she works within a school district which is something she thought she would never do. Her work is not only with the children but also the parents, the teachers and the system as a whole. She is also the mother of a child who developed a disability in late childhood. As his needs became more complex she found herself on the other side of the fence, experiencing for herself the rollercoaster of emotions that go along with the unpredictability of having a child with a disability. Lisa talks about how her spiritual practice has allowed her to stay grounded as both a parent and a professional in this data driven world where outcomes don't necessarily mean healing, and healing doesn't mean fixing.
