  • Susan Smith is a woman from Union, South Carolina, who became infamous for the murder of her two young children, Michael and Alex, in October 1994. Smith initially claimed that her car had been stolen by a Black man who drove off with her children in the backseat. However, after an extensive investigation, she confessed to strapping her children into their car seats and rolling her car into a nearby lake, drowning them both. The case received widespread media attention and Smith was eventually convicted of two counts of murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
