  • “Give me a pack of Gold Flake!” said another customer.

    Our blind hero reached out in his shop and plucked the exact packet, like a parrot picking out a fortune card.

    The customer gave him the money and waited for the blind man’s act of calculation. The latter rubbed his fingers on the bill from left to right, reached out under his dirty rug and handed the amount outstanding to the customer.
