  • NASA Dart Mission
    Oct 24 2022

In this episode: The NASA DART (Double Asteroid Redirection Test). This mission was designed and led by the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory. This was an experiment to determine if scientists could successfully redirect an asteroid that could potentially be on a trajectory for the earth and cause extinction. They chose an asteroid, dimorphous that was orbiting another asteroid "didymos", that is not on earth's trajectory and causes no imminent danger to humans to test if redirection of an asteroid was possible by crashing a satellite into it.
