  • Dealing with Daddy Issues by host Alicia Ramsey M.Ed.
    Jul 30 2021

This episode is a conversation with Alicia Ramsey of AR Consulting about the stereotypical term often given to women—daddy issues. The term “daddy issues” gets tossed around a lot, but most of the people doing the tossing are getting it all wrong. It’s become a catchall term to describe almost anything a woman does regarding sex and relationships. Men may say a woman has “daddy issues,” or even women themselves referring to having “daddy issues” well, MEN has daddy issues. The term “daddy issues” is not an official medical term or disorder. Nevertheless, as a woman with a complicated relationship with her father, the term has some validity.

In the podcast, information is shared from a biblical perspective accompanied by recent data. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)Trusted Source, poor parent-child relationships, particularly with fathers, is one of the risk factors linked to a greater likelihood of perpetrating sexual violence. The article also shares adolescents aged 14-17 were by far the most likely to be sexually victimized; nearly one in six (16.3%) are sexually victimized in the past. If you have been violated or victimized, please call The National Sexual Assault Telephone Hotline- 1(800)-656-HOPE(4673). It is never too late to ask for help.

As the host the conversation encompasses how to handle the situation when a teenager's technology usage is inappropriate:

    1. Communicate why it was wrong.

    2. Explain the consequences of their actions outside of your house and inside of your house.

    3. Be consistent!

    4. Make the consequence appropriate

    5. Be disappointed with their actions, not angry with the child.

  • How to Select a Mentor by host Alicia Ramsey
    Jun 25 2021

For this She Words episode, host Alicia Ramsey shares information, inspiration, and principles in the conversation entitled, How to Select the Right Mentor. She Words are motivational messages on motherhood, marriage, and mentorship. This episode will give you information and insight on what a mentor can and should do in the learning partnership. The word "mentor" has a root in Greek mythology. The word mentor cannot be found in the Bible, yet mentorship can be seen throughout the Old and New Testaments.

Mentoring is a partnership where knowledge, information, experience, skills, and perspective are shared between a mentor and the mentee. According to Peter Senge (1990), the author of The Fifth Discipline, mentors empower people with information, offer insights, new knowledge, and alternative perspectives on reality. Senge articulates mentoring is more than teaching someone how to achieve their vision; but fostering learning, offering choices, and building consensus.

Influential leaders are mentors and know the importance of mentoring. Everyone can be a leader because we all have gifts, talents, and knowledge to share. By mentoring the next generations to become productive citizens that better the world for all. Listen to hear more about mentorship as we dig deeper into this week's educational podcast dialogue. • Real Eyes, Realize, Real Lies by host Alicia Ramsey
    Jun 11 2021

This episode is a conversation on how to best communicate with younger generations. The quote, "Do not believe everything you hear: Real eyes, Realize, Real Lies," has been attributed to singer-songwriters Ray Charles, Woody Guthrie, and rapper/actor Tupac Shakur. How can this quote help different generations communicate and collaborate in the workplace or at home? According to Stephen Denning, the author of The Secret Language of Leadership, we can positively improve communication channels with younger generations by showing concern for their interest, revealing vulnerability, sharing values, meshing with what has gone before, and being willing to learn.

It is time for all to use our real eyes to communicate better and realize that generational differences do not have to remain a hindrance. Finally, open our minds to learning more about Generation Y and Generation Z, so they do not learn from assumptions or real lies. • The Role of a Life Coach in Times of Transition (Parenting Adult Children)
    May 27 2021

This episode is a conversation with Coach Sharon Wilson of Milestones about the role of a Life Coach. Do you need a Life Coach? It is essential during a time of transition to focus. As adults, it is time to make the transition from an impulsive thinker to a deliberate thinker. Deliberate thinking is a choice that will develop focus and mental toughness. This process will impact our performance and increase productivity as we develop mental toughness and purposefully focused thinking. Deliberate thinking or focused thinking will help you during a time of transition. She and I share an insightful dialogue on transitioning in life and raising children. The conversation ultimately translates into the importance of –finding your purpose. We comfortably converse about:

    ·      Understanding why one may need or want a Life Coach.

    ·      Comprehending the importance of supporting adult children through seasons of transition.

    ·      The strength one can receive from a close relationship with God.

    ·      Making sure YOU are the number one priority in your life.

Coach Sharon shares some powerful gems on life coaching, "Seek the examples to what you want to see in your life." We covered motherhood, mentoring, and marriage all in one powerful episode.
