  • Why You Shall Not Covet Is More Important Than You Think
    Apr 9 2026
This powerful conclusion to the Two Sets of Ten sermon series unpacks the final commandment: “You shall not covet” (Exodus 20:17; Deuteronomy 5:21). After fourteen weeks studying the Ten Commandments, this message brings everything full circle by exposing the root behind so many outward sins—unchecked desire in the heart. Coveting is not merely wanting something; it is an unhealthy, consuming desire for what belongs to someone else, a desire strong enough to lead to sin. Through biblical examples like King David and Bathsheba, this sermon reveals how coveting gives birth to greater transgressions. James 1:15 explains how desire conceives and produces sin, and sin, when fully grown, leads to death. Coveting is shown to be the inward seed that can grow into stealing, adultery, murder, idolatry, and spiritual destruction. What begins in the heart eventually manifests in action.Jesus’ teaching elevates the standard even higher. Just as hatred is murder in the heart and lust is adultery in the heart, coveting is stealing in the heart. Believers are challenged to take every thought captive (2 Corinthians 10:5) and guard against greed and covetousness, as warned in Luke 12:15. Ephesians 5:5 and Colossians 3:5 further reveal that covetousness is idolatry—placing desire for possessions, status, or people above devotion to God.The message ultimately centers on love as the fulfillment of the law. Romans 13:9 reminds us that all commandments are summed up in this: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” When believers live in love—loving God fully and loving others rightly—coveting loses its power. Trusting God’s promises, walking in obedience, and abiding in Christ bring blessing, peace, and spiritual freedom. This sermon calls listeners to examine the hidden motives of the heart, resist greed, and live in contentment and trust. When desire is surrendered to God, life aligns with His Word—and the blessings He promises follow.Referenced Verses:Exodus 20:17 Deuteronomy 5:21 Romans 13:9 Luke 12:15 Romans 3:23Romans 6:23James 1:15 2 Corinthians 10:5Ephesians 5:5Colossians 3:5-Social Media Ministries, founded by Spencer Coffman, is committed to sharing the Word of God with the entire world. • Are You Giving False Testimony Without Knowing It?
    Apr 2 2026
This message in the Two Sets of Ten sermon series unpacks the command: “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor” (Exodus 20:16; Deuteronomy 5:20).While many simplify this commandment to “don’t lie,” Scripture is more precise. False testimony involves giving a false report about another person—whether by accusation, defense, omission, or deception. It is truth distorted in a way that harms someone else.Through passages such as Exodus 23:1 and Proverbs 19:9, this sermon reveals the seriousness of bearing false witness. A false witness will not go unpunished, and spreading lies brings destruction. Words carry weight. Proverbs 12:17–19 contrasts the honest witness who tells the truth with the false witness who pours out lies, reminding believers that truthful lips endure forever. The message also addresses delivery and compassion. Truth must be spoken, but it must be spoken with wisdom and grace. Scripture teaches that reckless words pierce like a sword, while the tongue of the wise brings healing. Believers are called not only to avoid false testimony, but to reflect Christ through integrity, empathy, and love.James 4:4 warns that friendship with the world is enmity with God. In a culture where deception, exaggeration, and false advertising are normalized, Christians are commanded to live differently. Obedience to this command demonstrates love for God, and Scripture promises that He works all things for the good of those who love Him and keep His commands.Ultimately, this sermon calls believers to raise the standard. Not just avoiding courtroom perjury, but rejecting deception in every form. When truth governs the heart and speech, relationships are protected, witness is strengthened, and God is honored.Referenced Verses:Exodus 20:16Deuteronomy 5:20Exodus 23:1Proverbs 19:9Proverbs 12:17–19James 4:4Proverbs 25:18-Social Media Ministries, founded by Spencer Coffman, is committed to sharing the Word of God with the entire world. • You Shall Not Steal | What the Bible Really Says
    Mar 26 2026
This sermon explores the commandment “You shall not steal” by revealing how much deeper it goes than simply taking physical property. As part of the Two Sets of Ten series, this message examines how God’s law exposes both obvious and subtle forms of theft that often go unnoticed in daily life. Rooted in Exodus 20:15 and reaffirmed in Deuteronomy 5:19, the command is shown to be a permanent, timeless standard—not a temporary guideline. It's also important to consider how stealing can occur actively and passively. Passages like Exodus 22:1–4 outline the serious consequences of physical theft, this teaching expands the definition to include stealing time, energy, rest, opportunity, and even from God Himself. Malachi 3:8–9 is woven naturally into the message to demonstrate how withholding what belongs to God—such as tithes and offerings—is also a violation of this commandment. The sermon highlights the spiritual root of theft, reminding believers that the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), while those who abide in God are empowered to resist temptation and live differently. True freedom from stealing begins with submission to God, abiding in Christ, and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide daily decisions. Without that abiding relationship, resisting sin is impossible—but through Christ, believers are strengthened to live in obedience.Practical application is central to this teaching. Listeners are encouraged to evaluate their habits, schedules, relationships, and stewardship, asking whether they are unintentionally robbing others of time, peace, or resources—or misusing what God has entrusted to them. Romans 13:9 brings the message into focus, showing that all commandments, including “you shall not steal,” are fulfilled through loving others as oneself. This message ultimately calls believers to a higher standard—living with intentional love, integrity, and stewardship. When Christians walk in love and remain anchored in God’s presence, they reflect His character, honor His commands, and protect both themselves and others from spiritual loss.Referenced Verses: John 10:10Exodus 20:15Leviticus 19:11Exodus 22:1Exodus 22:4Malachi 3:8-9Deuteronomy 5:19Romans 13:9-Social Media Ministries, founded by Spencer Coffman, is committed to sharing the Word of God with the entire world. • You Shall Not Commit Adultery Is Harder Than You Think
    Mar 19 2026
Adultery is far more than a physical act. It begins in the heart, the mind, and even the words we speak. This sermon confronts the seventh commandment head-on: “You shall not commit adultery” (Exodus 20:14; Deuteronomy 5:18), revealing why God’s standard of purity reaches far deeper than outward behavior. What many assume they have never violated, Scripture shows is often broken in subtle, hidden ways that require honest self-examination and spiritual renewal. Through both Old and New Testament teaching, this message explains God’s original design for marriage, faithfulness, and covenant loyalty. From the clear warnings of the Law (Leviticus 20:10; Deuteronomy 22:22) to the wisdom of Proverbs (Proverbs 6:27–29; Proverbs 6:32), Scripture exposes the destructive consequences of adultery—not only toward others, but toward one’s own soul. Sin in this area is never harmless; it corrodes trust, damages identity, and brings spiritual death when left unchecked.Jesus raises the standard even higher in Matthew 5:28, teaching that lustful thoughts are themselves acts of adultery committed in the heart. This sermon carefully unpacks what it means to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). Showing how unchecked desire progresses from thought, to word, to action (James 1:15). Believers are challenged to recognize where attraction becomes temptation, and where temptation must be stopped before it gives birth to sin.The message also emphasizes why sexual sin is uniquely serious. Scripture teaches that believers are not their own—they were bought with a price—and that sexual immorality is a sin against the body, which is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:18–20). Adultery, whether physical or internal, ultimately destroys the one who commits it, separating the heart from God’s purpose and power.Rather than leaving believers condemned, this sermon calls for transformation through repentance, renewal of the mind, and dependence on Christ. True purity is not achieved through willpower alone, but through aligning thoughts, speech, and actions with the Word of God. When the mind is renewed, the tongue restrained, and the heart guarded, believers are empowered to live in holiness and walk in freedom. This teaching challenges Christians to treat purity seriously—not as a cultural suggestion, but as a divine command meant for protection, blessing, and spiritual life. If you desire to honor God with your body, renew your mind, and live in obedience that brings freedom rather than guilt, this message will convict, instruct, and strengthen your walk with Christ.Referenced Verses: Exodus 20:14Deuteronomy 5:18Leviticus 20:10Deuteronomy 22:22Proverbs 6:27-29Matthew 5:28Proverbs 6:322 Corinthians 10:51 Corinthians 6:18-Social Media Ministries, founded by Spencer Coffman, is committed to sharing the Word of God with the entire world. • Thou Shall Not Murder: The Biblical Truth Behind This Command
    Mar 12 2026
This sermon continues the Two Sets of Ten series by unpacking the commandment “You shall not murder” (Exodus 20:13; Deuteronomy 5:17), revealing that this command goes far deeper than the physical act of taking a life. Through Scripture, this teaching explains the crucial biblical distinction between murder and killing, showing how God’s law addresses intent, justice, self-defense, and responsibility. Drawing from passages such as Exodus 21:12–13, Exodus 22:2, Leviticus 24:17, and Genesis 9:6, the message clarifies why murder is condemned while certain acts of killing—such as self-defense, protection of others, and just causes—are treated differently under God’s authority.More importantly, this sermon confronts the heart issue behind murder. Jesus teaches that hatred, anger, unforgiveness, and contempt are forms of murder committed within the heart (Matthew 5:21–22; 1 John 3:15). This message challenges believers to recognize that wishing harm, holding bitterness, or harboring rage places the soul in spiritual danger. Scripture warns that unchecked thoughts give birth to sin, and sin leads to death (James 1:14–15), making forgiveness essential for spiritual life and freedom. You must take every thought captive, walk in forgiveness, and resist bitterness that can lead to spiritual destruction. By examining biblical examples—from Cain and Abel to Moses, Abraham, and God’s laws concerning justice. This teaching equips believers to understand God’s standards clearly and apply them faithfully in daily life. Ultimately, this sermon calls Christians to uphold life, pursue forgiveness, reject hatred, and live with hearts aligned to Christ, recognizing that obedience to this commandment begins in the mind and flows into action. If you want a deeper understanding of biblical justice, forgiveness, and the heart behind God’s command, this message will challenge, correct, and strengthen your walk with Christ.Referenced Verses: Exodus 20:3Leviticus 24:17James 1:14–15Deuteronomy 5:17Exodus 21:12-13Exodus 22:2Genesis 9:61 John 3:121 John 3:15Matthew 5:21-22-Social Media Ministries, founded by Spencer Coffman, is committed to sharing the Word of God with the entire world. • Honor Your Parents | The Fifth Commandment | Deep Dive
    Mar 5 2026
Honoring parents is more than childhood obedience; it is a lifelong command rooted in God’s design for blessing, order, and longevity. In part nine of the Two Sets of Ten series, this sermon explores the fifth commandment: “Honor your father and your mother” (Exodus 20:12), revealing why it is the only commandment given with a direct promise.Scripture makes clear that honoring parents is not the same as blind obedience. While children are instructed to obey their parents “in the Lord” (Ephesians 6:1), honor carries a deeper meaning. One tied to respect, reputation, gratitude, and the way a life reflects the family that raised it. Drawing from passages like Deuteronomy 5:16 and Ephesians 6:2, this message explains how honor extends beyond childhood and remains relevant even into adulthood. This teaching carefully distinguishes between honoring and obeying, offering biblical clarity for complex family dynamics. Whether parents were loving, absent, abusive, adoptive, or biological, God still calls believers to honor the role they played in bringing life and shaping identity. Jesus Himself reaffirmed this command (Matthew 15:4), underscoring its seriousness and permanence.Through biblical insight and practical application, the sermon addresses forgiveness, speech, and the power of words. Scripture warns against cursing parents (Exodus 21:17), revealing how speech reflects the heart and carries spiritual weight. Honoring parents includes refusing to speak ill of them, choosing forgiveness, and allowing God—not bitterness—to bring healing and justice. This message also challenges believers to examine how their lives bring honor or dishonor through character, conduct, and obedience to God. Proverbs and the teachings of Jesus remind us that how we live becomes a testimony—not only of our faith, but of those who raised us.Ultimately, this sermon calls believers to walk in maturity, humility, and grace. Honoring parents is not about excusing sin or maintaining unhealthy access—it is about aligning the heart with God’s Word, releasing offense, and trusting His promise: that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you (Exodus 20:12).If you desire biblical clarity, healing from family wounds, and a deeper understanding of God’s promises, this teaching will challenge your perspective and strengthen your walk in obedience and faith.Referenced Verses: Exodus 20:12Ephesians 6:2Deuteronomy 5:16Ephesians 6:1Matthew 15:4Exodus 21:17Proverbs 22:6-Social Media Ministries, founded by Spencer Coffman, is committed to sharing the Word of God with the entire world.
