Sonoma: Another Surprise Winner Coming?

  • Resumen

  • The first round of The Denny Hamlin Bracket Challenge had some surprise upsets. None bigger than Austin Dillon knocking off the two seed, Martin Truex Jr. With that upset, Tampa Timms came dressed in Austin Dillon gear to pay off his bet.

NASCAR is headed to Sonoma this weekend, and it’s hard to tell what to expect. With the new re-paved road course, The Professor explains why practice and qualifying are important to watch this weekend.

The Professor also breaks down his predictor model. In tier one is: Chase Elliott, Tyler Reddick, Martin Truex Jr., William Byron, and Christopher Bell. Tampa Timms agrees with these drivers being at the top but explains why he won’t bet on any of them to win pre-race.

Last week, Austin Cindric got his first win of the season, and Steve believes that could be the start of summer races won by first-time winners this year. One driver who hasn’t won a points race this year but everyone believes Vegas gave out a bad line on is Joey Logano at +4500, and Tampa Timms will be betting that pre-race.

A longshot for a top-10 is Justin Haley at +350. The guys have their eyes on Bubba Wallace and Brad Keselowski as possible top-10 bets also.

While it’s hard to handicap who might win, Steve believes this race is perfect for matchup bets. The number one head-to-head bet on his list is William Byron (-115) vs Ty Gibbs (-115).

The guys also discuss why the drivers who tested at Sonoma have an advantage and whether a driver could win stages 1 or 2 and the race.

Plus, The Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio, began on Thursday, and the guys have a couple of bets.
