The joy is contagious!
I really enjoy this podcast. One can just hear the joy of birding resonate. Now I'm thinking I've got to go see the Blackburnian in Central Park lol. I saw my first Blackburnian last spring here in Marquette Mi. It was an immature male. I was very lucky to have been in the accidental company of renowned birder Skye Haas. He overheard me say I was hoping to see a Blackburnian "this year". He was generous to summon me when he saw one.
Dexter, regarding the American Avocet. I hear ya. I follow the Wisco bird fb pages. I'm a Wisco wannabe ha ha. When I read certain birds are in your area, I pay close attention in hopes I'll see them up here soon after. Well, an American Avocet did arrive at the mouth of the Dead River here in Marquette! My first! I happen to be meeting up with my oldest son Jack when the American Avocet alert came through. Finally, I was near and able to detour to see it. My son met me there and when we pulled in there were all my fellow bird nerds with scopes. Jack was never obsessed with birding but he always tagged along growing up and enjoyed viewing the birds. This meet up was extra special to me as, if you've got older children you can understand the times you get to be with them are fewer and very special. To see Jack so engaged in viewing the American Avocet and then sending it off in Snapchat etc was very rewarding and a special moment for me.
Again, I really enjoy your podcast and sharing the joy with others who are just as happy birding!
