After over 20 years as a senior producer of corporate video, and director of a boutique marketing agency, she wanted to make more difference to passionate, talented, and creative women. She saw so many struggling to succeed in online business, and decided to take a leap and follow her purpose and joy.

Finding so much advice that was easy to sell, but not necessarily easy to feel aligned with, she developed a way to grow an online business that doesn't just do well financially and do good in the world, but feels good to make happen.

On today’s episode of Startup Mums - The Podcast I’m talking to my friend and all-round awesome human Marilou Coombe she is sharing her amazing journey as a business women, her work with our first nations people, how we can be more present in the moment, grateful for even the most horrible people and experiences in our lives, why practising gratitude daily is so important and how we can do that.

Marilou is a coach and mentor, author & co-author, yoga teacher, workshop & retreat facilitator and youth worker.  She is passionate about all aspects of life, mainly her 2 divine energetic young boys. Having children has been her big defining moment of change in taking action to have a more fulfilling life. How can she raise 2 loving, inspirational game changers if she was not one now!  What examples was she setting for them? What language is she using on a daily basis? How is she interacting with their dad and other members in the community?  These are questions that have set her on the course to become a better person and member of her community and do the work she does.

With a Bachelor in Social Science, Certificate IV in training, and coaching training including NLP, she is passionate about helping children and families live a highly purposeful life. Working on mindset and gaining clarity about all aspects concerning mind, body and soul. 

Born in Lebanon, and moving to Australia at the age of 10, without speaking a word of English has had lasting impacts on building her resilience and creating the life that she now lives. 

Focusing on working with children and instilling growth mindsets from early on in life, her mission is to empower them to have a strong self-belief stemming from their core to achieve anything they set out to do and to be someone in their life that they can reach out to, without receiving any criticism or judgement.

She loves and is driven by connection: to self and to others!  She weaves yoga, meditation and all of her life experience into her work to create magic.

In today's episode of Startup Mums - The Podcast I'm sharing with you my tips on setting goals and how to achieve them.

I never used to believe in goal setting, but I guess I just never really believed in myself either.

I didn't have the faith in myself when I did try setting goals, I didn't actually believe I could achieve them. And I also believed that something always goes wrong. Nothing ever goes to plan really for me.

But if you really want to have the amazing life you dream of you must set goals.

Because if you don't have goals and a clear vision of where you want to go, how do you know when you have reached your goals?

When I worked on my mindset and I learnt how to set goals the right way, that's when everything changed for me.

So of course I wanted to share this with you too.

She worked in the disability and community sectors for 10 years supporting and advocating for the creative practice of others, facilitating art-making workshops, seeding community-based arts projects and was part of the founding team to deliver pioneering art therapy for patients receiving dialysis treatment.

After the birth of my youngest son she thought it was time r to truly walk the talk, dive into her creative practice and enter the 'start up world'.

Melissa Banks Studio now focuses on fine art (original art and prints as well as seasonal offerings) and creative advocacy through collaboration projects for artists.
