  • Mayor Adams Pro Police Efforts
    Aug 16 2022

Considering the pro-police push by recently elected Black Democrats, we see little correlation between Black representation in electoral politics and Black liberation in our communities. Should we be rooting for everyone Black?

  • Florida Bad Cops Brady List
    Aug 16 2022

“Brady” lists are exclusion lists for police. When police show prosecutors they’re untrustworthy, prosecutors can put them on a list, so everyone knows not to trust them in court. Many cops are upset about being held accountable, as everyone understands to reject cases from these officers. The problem? State and District Attorneys have also been implicated in prosecutorial misconduct, violating the Brady Act.

  • Police Funding Pt 1 - Misconduct Payouts
    Jul 20 2022

Policing is draining our society of resources, and we’re funding our own oppression through so-called “misconduct” payouts. Misconduct and racism are the nature of all policing, not an exception.

  • Failing Police Reforms
    Jun 1 2022

We'll back with The State of Criminal Justice next week. Today, we're sharing a conversation about failing police reforms. As always, thank you for your continued support of Black nonprofit media and our work to highlight how the criminal legal system affects Black people. If you haven't already, we'd love for you to support PushBlack with a small monthly donation. You can donate here.

Police reforms prevent progress by keeping people caught up in a cycle of ineffective responses to systemic problems that should be addressed through abolition.

Guests: Benji Hart, Chicago-based author, artist, and educator and Alysia Nicole Harris, poet, linguist, Christian and founding member of The Strivers Row
