  • 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey: Which Comes First? Curiosity or Courage?
    Jul 17 2024

Hello to you listening in Kirkland, Washington!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga.

My Camino de Santiago pilgrimage is never far from my thoughts. Folks ask me all the time about the courage it took to walk 500 miles across Spain. But the courage was preceded by curiosity: What’s out there? Who might I meet? How will I manage? Do I have what it takes? What if I quit?

Following are some good words to help you step into the adventure that’s waiting for you:

You can't stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.” [A.A. Milne]

One doesn't discover new lands without consenting to lose sight, for a very long time, of the shore.” [Andre Gide]

Within all of us is a varying amount of space lint and star dust, the residue from our creation. Most are too busy to notice it, and it is stronger in some than others. It is strongest in those of us who fly and is responsible for an unconscious, subtle desire to slip into some wings and try for the elusive boundaries of our origin.” [ K.O. Eckland]

Question: What are you curious to know? What courage will it take? What are you waiting for?

You’re always invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe and spread the word with a generous 5-star review and comment - it helps us all - and join us next time!

  • 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey: Your Message Is Your Presence, Not a Product
    Jul 17 2024

Hello to you listening on Camano Island, Washington!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga.

Social media platforms can feel like echo chambers with everyone clamoring for the same thing: attention to their product. But you are not a product; you are a Presence. Your work, your message, your origin story is your You. It's the message of your heart. The message that says this is me! This is what I stand for! This is how I express myself! This is how I serve for the good!

What would it take to reclaim your Presence whether you have a case to win, an origin story to tell, a keynote to shape, or a vision to sell? I believe that you know what you want to say; you just need someone to listen it out of you.

As a story guide that is precisely what I do. How? Using traditional storytelling techniques and methods plus 30 years of story work in law, healthcare, business, education, and public speaking I help you get to the heart of your message and the message of your heart to reveal the You in your work. It’s a radical shift in mindset because my approach recognizes that you are not a product - you are a Presence. And, you are what the world needs and wants.

CTA: If you’re curious about getting to the heart of your message and the message of your heart so you are seen, heard, understood, and listened to, contact me on LinkedIn or by email at Quarter Moon Story Arts to schedule your free Discovery Chat.

You’re always invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe and spread the word with a generous 5-star review and comment - it helps us all - and join us next time!

  • 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday: How My Established Origin Story Process Might Benefit You & Your Business
    Jul 15 2024

Hello to you listening in Helena, Montana!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga.

Recently Sarah Elkins of Elkins Consulting asked me a question on her podcast: would you share a story about a client who came to you with an Origin Story challenge and how you solved it based on the process you’ve developed.

Challenge: My client was launching her consultancy business providing corporate managers with solutions for creating sustainable positive change in the workplace; but she felt she had no clear story to share about what she was offering and why.

Solution: We spent several weeks on an archeological dig of her life to uncover clues in her memories, experiences, values, education, ideas, and achievements. The archeological dig is the place where all the hidden treasures are found to manifest the Origin Story. It was an “ah ha!” moment for my client when she stepped into her power and confidently created her Origin Story that embraced her Who, her Why and her How - in her own words, her own voice.

Process: Your Who + Your Why + Your How => Your Origin Story - the story of how you got from There to Here as well as the roadmap for how you’ll get from Here to There.

Your Who: Who am I? What are my values, character traits, ideals, voice, purpose, and so on?

Your Why: What’s my Why? What’s the work I offer, who’s it for, what’s it for, and why does it matter?

Your How: What’s my How? How do I do my work in a way that is uniquely mine, that sets me apart and above all the rest?

Question: Why is this step-by-step process key to creating a robustly authentic Origin Story? Because until we know Who we are we cannot understand our Why; and until we know our Why we cannot understand our How. It works together in a orderly process.

Benefit: What did my client gain apart from a deep understanding of herself? A successfully solid Origin Story for her About page, marketing, branding, and keynote material, communication strategies, engaging story examples, and most importantly the power of her voice to say what she means and mean what she says so she is heard and listened to.

CTA: If you’re curious about how you might benefit from gaining communication insight tools and skills for your Origin Story, let’s have a discovery chat. DM me on LinkedIn or e-mail me: info@quartermoonstoryarts.net.

  • 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: When You Were Lost How Did You Walk Your Way Clear?
    Jul 12 2024

Hello to you listening in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga.

The Camino de Santiago de Compostella is fairly well marked with yellow arrows painted by volunteers and images of scallop shells pointing the way West. But every once in a while - like life - the way is unclear, unmarked, hidden even. You can get lost. I learned this the hard way. Now what?

You must stop and listen to your own voice. Silence the noise, the chatter, the distractions about which way to go. Your own knowing will help you out when you ask. And your guidebook. And your experience. Breathe. Quiet. Listen. Choose. Walk on. Eventually the Camino taught me that there is always a yellow arrow; but it might not be where I was looking.

Story Prompt: When have you walked your way from lost into the clear? What happened next? Write that story!

Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something. All that matters is you have a story.

You’re always invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe and spread the word with a generous 5-star review and comment - it helps us all - and join us next time!

  • 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday: Are You Wrapping Up Life or Just Getting Warmed Up?
    Jul 8 2024

Hello to you listening in Slatina, Romania!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga.

I was asked the other day if Quarter Moon Story Arts (my consulting practice) and Stories From Women Who Walk (this podcast) are the end of the road for me. When might I begin to wrap things up?

In the immortal words of Al Pacino’s Academy Award winning character, Lt. Col. Frank Slade: “I’m just getting warmed up!”

This much I know: some folks spend the first half of their lives building a life and the second half trying to keep it from falling apart. As for me I’d like to be Under Construction when it’s my time to go.

Question: What about you? How are you getting warmed up for what’s next in your Life?

  • 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: Imagine How Our Errors Can Guide Us to Our Origin Story.
    Jul 5 2024

Hello to you listening in Lake Worth, Florida!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga.

Working with my clients I become deeply involved in their Creation or Origin Stories. Creation stories provide important information about culture, values, ancestors and so forth that are passed down from generation to generation through storytelling. These stories inform our lives and help us create our own professional and personal stories.

Often we imagine that only our good, wise, best choices and opportunities deserve to be part of our Creation story. Not so! I’m here to tell you, “Out of a whole lifetime, by God, sometimes the only thing that saves a person is error, and I know that we shall not be saved so long as our error is not precious to us.” [Clarice Lispector, from the story “Mineirinho”]

You see, when we embrace our wrong turns, dead ends, mistakes and missteps as being precious to us, we can learn who we are not, who we are not meant to be, what we are not called to do. In our errors we find our very own powerful Creation story.

My clients ask me how to find the powerful Creation story that belongs to them and where to start. I tell them: “Just pretend like it will all make sense if you simply begin.” And. It. Does.

Story Prompt: When have your errors and missteps guided you to the heart of your narrative? Write that story!

Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something. All that matters is you have a story.

You’re always invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe and spread the word with a generous 5-star review and comment - it helps us all - and join us next time!
