Join us for a particularly exciting and crazy episode, in which we had the chance to host Stu, a local New Zealand Jew with a life's work in the global music industry. Stu was the global sales and marketing director of the BMG record company, which was considered one of the five largest record companies and owned about 20 percent of the music industry! We sat with Stu in his amazing house, in a room full of records and CDs and posters on the walls. We browsed and talked a lot about his life story, how he became a sales manager at Unilever, to the global sales manager of one of the largest record companies in the world. In our conversation, we talked about the way the industry used to work, about how bands are sold and marketed to continents like Asia, Australia, and even Israel.
