IPL 2025: Delhi Capitals Plots Rishabh Pant’s Trade to CSK; KL Rahul to Leave LSG for Ex-Franchise - Reports Rishabh Pant to CSK: "Delhi Capitals captain and ace keeper-batter Rishabh Pant could join MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings in a trade deal ahead of IPL 2025, per the latest reports. The most capped Delhi player, Pant, could switch bases for the first time since his league debut, as franchise owners are undecided on his retention. Despite his return to form last season, finishing with 446 runs in 13 innings, Pant failed to guide his team to a playoff finish." Changes at Delhi Capitals: "With head coach Ricky Ponting also departing and considering the upcoming mega auction, DC’s decision-makers are contemplating removing Pant from the captaincy and trading him to CSK. This move could be a win-win situation for both the team and Pant, especially with uncertainties around MS Dhoni’s participation in the next edition." Rahul to Lead RCB: "Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giant captain (LSG) KL Rahul might leave the team and rejoin Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ahead of the upcoming season. Following a public fallout with LSG owner Sanjeev Goenka, Rahul’s relationship with the franchise soured. Reports suggest that Rahul will replace Faf du Plessis as the new captain of RCB, helping the team build a new squad aiming for their first IPL trophy." Mumbai Indians’ Turmoil: "Amidst the reshuffling, one of the most successful IPL teams, Mumbai Indians, may witness significant departures. Rohit Sharma, despite his stellar record and multiple IPL trophies, could leave the franchise. Reports suggest that teams like LSG, DC, and Punjab Kings may target Sharma for IPL 2025. Similarly, Suryakumar Yadav, another MI star, might leave due to disagreements with Hardik Pandya’s captaincy. Teams like KKR could be eyeing Surya for his invaluable contributions in the middle overs." Conclusion: "IPL 2025 is poised to be a season full of surprises and significant team changes. With potential trades and new leadership dynamics, fans can expect a thrilling tournament ahead." • Ajit Agarkar and Gautam Gambhir on Team India's Decisions @Kaushiknc
    Jul 23 2024

On Suryakumar Yadav as T20I Captain: "Surya has all the necessary qualities to be a good captain. He has been a great batter for us, and we believe he is a deserving candidate. We want a captain who is likely to be available more, and Surya fits that bill," said Ajit Agarkar, chairman of selectors. Regarding Hardik Pandya, Agarkar added, "Hardik is still a very important player with unique skill sets, but his fitness struggles have made it challenging to consider him for captaincy. The decision was made with the future in mind." On Team Dynamics and Transitions: Agarkar emphasized the importance of a supportive environment, "A happy dressing room is important. I'm taking over a very successful team - T20 World champions, WTC runners-up, and ODI World Cup runners-up. The idea is to go forward from there." On Player Selection: Addressing the omission of certain players, Agarkar mentioned, "Any player who is dropped will feel hard done by. But our job is to only pick 15. For instance, Rinku performed really well ahead of the T20 World Cup but couldn't make the cut. We can only pick 15." He also clarified the status of some players, "He hasn't been dropped but rested. There are a lot of Test series coming up, and he will be playing a lot of those." On Senior Players: Newly-appointed head coach Gautam Gambhir spoke about the senior duo, "Rohit and Virat have shown what they can deliver at the big stage, whether it is the T20 World Cup or the ODI World Cup. Both of them have a lot more cricket left in them. We've got the Champions Trophy and a tour of Australia coming up, and they will be motivated. If they maintain their fitness, they could even be part of the 2027 World Cup." On Fast Bowlers: "Workload management for someone like Jasprit Bumrah is important. He is a rare bowler, and we want him to play important games. That's why the workload management for fast bowlers is crucial," Agarkar explained. On Team Composition: "We don't plan on having three different teams. We just need to find the right combination of players who can suit across different formats," Agarkar said, emphasizing the need for flexibility. On Support Staff: Agarkar expressed satisfaction with the BCCI's support, "I'm really happy with BCCI. They've agreed with most things I've asked for. The crux of the support staff will remain as they are, with the rest finalized after the Sri Lanka tour. Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate will be assistant coaches, T Dilip will continue as fielding coach, and Sairaj Bahutule will be the interim bowling coach for the Sri Lanka tour."
