S05E02 - James Hallam

Here it is, S05E02 of the Sunshine, Freedom and Flowers podcast and our FIRST GUEST of the new season!

Another one of Dobbie's former students joins the SFF team to share their three things that bring them joy and James Hallam doesn't disappoint. James is a film and theatre buff (nerd perhaps?) and is a romantic at heart and so what better way to reintroduce guests back to the SFF fold than with someone who basically likes the same things as Dobbie and Drew! So much so that almost 20min of the first section ended up on the cutting room floor because the conversation kept on flowing.

James talks passionately about his three things, but as is often the case, there is a thread that links them all and by the end you might be wondering where you to can order someone to script write moments of your life like James seems to have. His future joy might leave you a little speechless...

S05E01 - Return of the Throbbing Gristle

Here it is, S05E01 of the Sunshine, Freedom and Flowers podcast!

Its been just shy of two whole years since the SFF partners in audio crime, Dobbie and Drew, last released an episode of SFF into the ether - but they're back and with a new (and hopefully more manageable) format.

At the start of the month Dobbie and Drew will do a shorter one on one pod where one of them brings a past, present of future joy to talk about and then towards the end of the month, a guest will join them to bring a past, present and future joy, just like the SFF podcast you know and love.

This episode is a brief reminder of the journey so far (or an introduction to those of you who haven't tuned in to the previous four series! Its a past/present and future joy for Dobbie and Drew - so it's a valid discussion!

S04E06 - Natalie Durkin

Here it is, S04 E06 of the Sunshine, Freedom and Flowers podcast!

Its that time again - Drew has been fishing on Twitter and what a catch! The wonderful Natalie Durkin replied to a call out for guests and the Sunshine, Freedom and Flowers podcast returns to closing a series with someone neither Dobbie nor Drew knew in advance of recording.

Natalie brought with her three things that bring her joy, the first of which played right into Drew's favorite subject (after Star Trek that is...) and is a timely reminder of someone who would have had a special birthday this year... Natalie's second choice almost has Dobbie writing a script for a musical involving soft furnishings and her third is a celebration of a new skill fully embraced and the opportunities on the horizon waiting for Natalie to make the most of.

Drew is wary by the summary as Dobbie's enthusiasm for Natalie's infectious energy might put the pair's return for S05 at risk... will the Partner's in Audio Crime survive?

Yes... they will - S05 will be here soon (hopefully sooner than S04!)

S04E05 - John Berridge

Here it is, S04 E05 of the Sunshine, Freedom and Flowers podcast!

Another episode bursting at the seams with joys related to travel and adventure - even Dobbie and Drew are reeled in by the romance of a train journey through remote parts of Russia until they hear how long it took! Safe to say they enjoy travelling vicariously via their guests and John doesn't disappoint.

Another recommendation from a previous guest (S01E05 - Jodie Cresswell-Waring), John brings his three joys and takes the Sunshine, Freedom and Flowers boys on a journey from the grey skies of Slough, to the edges of the world and back again - all underscored with a soundtrack first discovered in the back of a car travelling through London at night. S04E04 - Adam Gray

Here it is, S04 E04 of the Sunshine, Freedom and Flowers podcast!

At last - the wanderers return!

S04 has been a long drawn out affair, but the second half is finally here and kicking off in style with a guest recommended to Dobbie and Drew by Adam Pownall (S03E02) - the wonderful Adam Gray.

S04E03 - Graham Bickley

Here it is, S04 E03 of the Sunshine, Freedom and Flowers podcast!

Drew has done it again - he's stalked through his Twitter following list and come up trumps with another fantastic guest and its one he's a proud 'fanboy' of!

Graham Bickley has a career in Musical Theatre spanning back across the decades and continues to produce and perform concert shows (amongst other things) with his company. Some listeners may know him from a well loved TV sitcom from back in the late 80's, but its his achievements in Musical Theatre that really excites Drew.

Graham kindly took time out to meet with Dobbie and Drew to share his 3 things that bring him joy. From a past joy that sprang from an unexpected place, to a present joy that springs around the local footpaths and woodlands, to a future joy that lovingly uses strings to put a spring in his step...

This is a great episode about great partnerships, making the most of opportunities and find joy in the spaces when life takes a pause from running full steam ahead.

Drew and Dobbie's summary may feel a little 'familiar' - as in you've heard it all before! But more than that - a genuinely honest and humble conversation that should have left them speechless... but they decided to carry on talking anyway!

S04E02 - Jayne Williams

The Sunshine, Freedom and Flowers podcast has hosted several past guests to whom the existence of the podcast owes some debt of gratitude - for theatre shows, friendships and more... but S04E02's guest is perhaps the most important of them all... As she saved Dobbie's life in the early 1990s!

However that is not the reason Jayne Williams was invited to share her 3 things that bring her joy. Jayne is a brilliant playwright, director and author with a heart for community and engagement/access to the arts and she treats the Sunshine, Freedom and Flowers podcast to another episode guided by the mind of a creative! From a past joy that continues to inspire her creative juices daily, to a seemingly insignificant present joy that reveals something of the creative process to a future joy bound with the fruits of nature. Dobbie and Drew take a back seat and listen to a story teller at work. But don't trust their summation - judge for yourself by downloading S04E02 with Jayne Williams now!

Warning - there is a small portion of this episode that deals with the tragic death of a much loved person. It is included as it tells the person's full story and to omit it would short change their memory and what they meant to Jayne.

S04E01 - Braden Guy

Here it is, S04 E01 of the Sunshine, Freedom and Flowers podcast!

This series has been a long, long time coming!

Ill health, holidays, diary clashes and job changes have all conspired against Dobbie and Drew since S03 signed off - but they battled on, dear listener, with grace and dignity (well... maybe not so much the dignity...) to finally bring you S04! And what a series they have in store!

Kicking off proceedings is Braden Guy and his wonderful 3 things that bring him joy. A past bedside revelation leads to a present where Braden is in the driver's seat and loving every second, which in turn is paving the way for a future he's always dreamed about. Dobbie is proud and Drew is on best behaviour because the Sunshine, Freedom and Flowers contract requires him to be! Braden is an inspiring young man, not afraid to take risk and work hard for what he wants and the contentment he's receiving in response is evident in the way he shares his 3 things that bring him joy.
