  • US Open R2 - Djokovic makes more history, Rybakina no-shows, Tiafoe-Shelton is SET(!)
    Aug 29 2024

Joel and Kim are here to catch up on the second round action from Flushing Meadows in New York City, with the US Open now well underway in the hot, hot heat.

Frances Tiafoe and Ben Shelton have made their way through to setting up a highly anticipated US Open rematch in the 3rd round after their comfortable wins in the round of 64. Meanwhile, top seeds Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner safely progress, with Djokovic clocking up yet another milestone with 90 match wins now achieved at each of the 4 Grand Slams.

With Wimbledon Champion Barbora Krejickova ousted by Elena-Gabriela Ruse, and Karolina Pliskova retiring after 3 points against Jasmine Paolini, it hasn’t been the best of days for the Czech ladies. Harriet Dart and Katie Boulter also bow out, leaving no British women in the third round.

Joel and Kim also touch upon the epic first round encounter between Dan Evans and Karen Khachanov which has become the longest ever match in US Open history, and reflect on Emma Raducanu’s disappointing US Open and what has contributed to her poor result here yet again.

Iga Swiatek endures a gritty opponent in Kamila Rakhimova, whilst Harriet Dart and Katie Boulter get the win for the Brits, and Holger Rune, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Stefanos Tsitsipas have tournaments they’d rather forget with early losses. Meanwhile, Kim and Chris unpick some controversial comments made by Ben Shelton, and Chris tries to recover from another heartbreaking defeat for Sloane Stephens.

  • US Open Draws - Alcaraz gets Sinner (again), Sabalenka the favourite?, Osaka-OstaPENKO!
    Aug 22 2024

Joel, Kim and Chris are back to preview the US Open, which very excitingly gets underway this coming Monday, on the courts of Flushing Meadows. The trio are here to give their legendary Tennis Weekly quarter by quarter preview and predictions, as well as announcing the player picks for the latest edition of Collect A Set.

With Novak Djokovic fresh off the back of an Olympic Gold and Jannik Sinner dealing with recent doping news, how will these two fare as the top two seeds in the men’s draw? Meanwhile, Coco Gauff will be looking to defend her title from 2023 but will have strong opposition from a whole array of players, some in form and some unpredictable.

Certain first round popcorn matches await in the likes of Osaka v Ostapenko and Paolini v Andreescu, and Dominic Thiem finds himself in his final Grand Slam draw up against home favourite Ben Shelton.

Britain’s Emma Raducanu also faces a tough section of the draw, and Jack Draper will be hoping to set up a third round clash with the winner of the last two Grand Slams, Carlos Alcaraz.

Join us as we look ahead to likely match ups, who to watch and where our winners are coming from!
