  • Day 89: The Final Burn
    Sep 6 2024

If you’ve been procrastinating and waiting for the last minute, it’s here!

Now is the time to kick into it gear, use all of your remaining energy, and knock the end of this manuscript out.

Just like a long-distance runner who picks up the pace and exhausts all of their energy in the final leg of the race, now is the time to use whatever reserves are left, stay up as late as it takes, and finish your book.

ASSIGNMENT: Complete at least half of the remaining work on your manuscript to reach “The End” by the end of the day tomorrow. That should include at least one hour in the seat and 1,000 new words.

FOR FURTHER STUDY: Join with other writers on the official 90-Day Novel Challenge Facebook group to share your status and celebrate as you come into the finish line! https://www.facebook.com/groups/90daynovel

  • Day 88: The Biggest Lie We Tell
    Sep 5 2024

You’ve told it. We all have.

Today we’re addressing the elephant in the room: what if you’re not going to finish your manuscript? What if you’re not even close?

That doesn’t make you a bad person, but it does provide an opportunity for learning and growth. First we have to weed out that big, pesky lie so that we can get to the bottom of it.

ASSIGNMENT: Complete at least 1/3rd of the remaining work on your novel. Write for at least one hour and add 1,000 new words to your manuscript.

If you’re not close to finishing, make time to rip off the excuses and get to the bottom of it. Then implement a solution for the next project.

  • Day 87: The Revision Plan
    Sep 4 2024

If all goes according to plan, you should be revising your manuscript soon!

What are revisions? What exactly should you do? How big of changes do you make at this stage? Those are all great questions, and we have a resource that will help.

Just like The Novel Matrix makes writing a book orderly and predictable, The 4-Step Manuscript Revision Plan will do the same thing for your revision process.

Get the free class on The Company’s website: https://writers.company/resources/4-step-manuscript-revision-course/

ASSIGNMENT: Complete at least 1/4th of the remaining work on your manuscript. Write for one hour and add at least 1,000 new words to the page.

FOR FURTHER STUDY: Find helpful resources on The Company’s website at Writers.Company/resources. Make sure to join The Company’s newsletter so that you don’t miss anything as new resources are released.

  • Day 86: Let It Rest
    Sep 3 2024

Whether you’re already done or you still need the rest of the week, you’ll soon be finished writing the first draft of your novel!

As you come to “The End” of your manuscript, it’s important to get some distance from your work before you commence any major revisions.

However, that distance can’t come at the expense of the writing muscles you’ve worked so hard to develop over the past 90 days.

ASSIGNMENT: Complete at least 1/5th of the remaining work on the first draft of your novel manuscript. Write for at least one hour and add at least 1,000 new words to your book.

  • Day 85: Something for Every Scene
    Sep 2 2024

Six writing days left to the end of the 90-Day Novel Challenge! You can do this.

Even if you feel like you still have a lot left to write, you can still complete this challenge. Don’t give up!

The most important thing is to get something written on every scene of your manuscript. Even if it’s not the quality or the completeness you ultimately want for the scene, you’ll be best served by getting something on every scene so that you can officially reach “The End.”

ASSIGNMENT: Assess and do at least 1/6th of the remaining work to finish your manuscript. Work for at least one hour and add at least 1,000 words to your manuscript.

FOR FURTHER STUDY: Get free resources for planning and executing a complete novel manuscript at NovelMatrix.com.

And I’m not just being a cheerleader, I have a good reason.

ASSIGNMENT: Write for at least one hour and add 1,000 new words to your manuscript. Take a few minutes to assess what you need to do to get to “The End” by the challenge deadline.
