  • "The Angelus" is a prayer devotion commemorating the Incarnation, when Jesus, the Son of God, retaining His divine nature, took a human nature of a body and soul like ours.

    This devotion originated in the 13th century and consists of three Hail Marys interspersed with responses from the Gospel of Luke 1:26-38, with the angel Gabriel's announcement to Mary that she would conceive and bear the Son of God.

    The Angelus prayer devotion is traditionally prayed three times a day - morning, noon, and evening - allowing us to pause throughout our day to meditate on the Incarnation, and to ask for Mary's intercession.
