  • Paper Citizen
    Jul 26 2024
Paper Citizen is led by LA-based, Singapore born, singer-songwriter, violinist, guitarist, and music producer, Claire Gohst. Self-proclaimed “Indie-rock for a lost soul in a new world,” Paper Citizen blends crisp vocals with lyrical intimacy, spacious guitars, and organic rhythms for a sound that defies conventions. At 17, Gohst was kicked out of her home when her strict, religious family found out she was queer. In an effort to find her own path, she dove into the Singaporean live music scene. After half a decade of honing her skills playing violin, and singing in bars, clubs, and restaurants, she realized she needed to grow to develop her musicality. With the opportunity of a scholarship and the promise of a new beginning, she moved to Boston to study jazz violin and recording arts at Berklee College of Music, an endeavor that sparked a love for songwriting, music production, and the palette of electric guitar. In pursuit of healing, with influences from spiritual, rock, alternative and electronic music, Paper Citizen was born. Following a move to Los Angeles in 2019, Paper Citizen has been laying roots in the local music and queer scene playing dozens of shows across Southern California. On the horizon is their debut alternative rock album, combining both analog and digital recording technology and inspired from their favorite artists, such as Grimes, The Beatles, Metric, and Queens of The Stone Age. papercitizen.com The Arwen Lewis Show Host | Arwen Lewis Executive Producer | Arwen Lewis Executive Producer | Jeremiah D. • Laura Cheadle
    Jul 24 2024
If you’re longing for some real music that you can feel in your heart, lyrics that speak to your soul, and a live performance with the power to blow the roof off the sky, you can stop right here. If you’re tired of all the staged choreography, blinding light shows, capes, costumes, lip-synching and auto-tunes that seems to have taken over live performances, you have found a place to rest, refresh, and renew. Welcome to the world of Laura Cheadle. Along with her Family Band, Laura Cheadle has opened for some of the biggest names in the business and won numerous awards, including “Best Indie Jazz/Blues Band” at WXPN sponsored Tri-State Indie Music Awards. As Traveler Guitar’s newest Brand Ambassador and a recent distribution deal with So Bold Ent/Sony Music, her solo career is starting to explode, with her new album ‘Mannequin’ already amassing millions of streams, and having recently been honored with the Musician of the Decade award for her body of work and trend-setting style. Jul 4 2024
Gene Champagne is a rising creator known for drummer of the influential punk pioneers Teenage Head, also a founding member and drummer of The Killjoys, a band that was a staple and ruled in the Canadian 90's music scene. Champagne now takes front and center from behind the kit and delivers his first truly solo Ep Let's Jet. Written, recorded and played entirely by Champagne ‘Let’s Jet’ is a collection of fine power pop, punk and rock and roll that tips it’s hat to early 70's punk. instagram: genechampagne_official Facebook: Gene Champagne The Arwen Lewis Show Host | Arwen Lewis Executive Producer | Arwen Lewis Executive Producer | Jeremiah D. • Weed (The Odd Even)
    Jun 27 2024
The OddEven are an alternative metal band known for riff-oriented hard rock with a massive groove and hypnotic kick that will spin you around on your barstool and get you to your feet in a jam-packed arena. Similar to the way that Nikola Tesla and Leonardo Da Vinci said their inspiration came from somewhere beyond earth, Weed (bass) and E.T. (guitar) write the songs as if harnessing the power of divine intervention. Chris Volz handles the vocals with brilliant expertise, and Tosha Jones works her magic on drums. As for the origin story, we have the legal obligation here at Eclipse to inform our listening audience that the two founding members of The OddEven are, in fact, infamous secrets that the government has been hiding for years in reference to Hangar #3 on the grounds of Area 51. Originally, Weed and E.T. were found inside pressurized sleeping chambers in a strange pod-shaped craft that had crash landed near an opal mine in the south Nevada desert. The two aliens were composed of a crystallite substance with silver colored blood pulsing through semi-transparent veins. Weed was configured in the shape of a man-sized king cobra and E.T. resembled a mammoth two-headed scorpion. There were odd shaped medallions piled at the foot of each enclosure and odd-looking string instruments in the side compartments, indicating that the strange beings were both leaders of some alien warrior class as well as musicians, and they woke and communicated with each other, sounding vaguely like grunge guitars with someone twisting the tuning pegs. The two were then quickly transported to “Hangar #3” and caged in glass observation booths next to the bone saws, dissection scalpels, power drills, and rinse basins. On three nearby operating tables were the blood-spattered heads of other aliens stuck on trophy spikes and in sheet pans, and the next morning, January 1st, 2019, officers discovered that the new prisoners had vanished. Rumor has it that overnight the two outworlders broke containment and discovered the robotics lab, where they pilfered capsules containing nanobot technology that they used to redevelop themselves in human form, learning the history of earth’s rock and roll, every album ever made, every stream, every single, every YouTube video, review, and social media post. The mapping-ware was self-learning, and in seconds they were writing their own new chapter, developing their own sounds and souls, new musical journeys, and “post-prison-break” they reasoned that separation was the best tactic to cloak their strange presence in the new world. Slowly, they worked their way into new lives, into blissful forgetfulness, and it was only when Weed took a DNA test that he realized he had no DNA, that he had to wake up, and that he had to find E.T. to figure a way to deal with this broken and wonderful sea of humanity. • Satch Kerans
    Jun 27 2024
Tom “Satch” Kerans, the 2009 runner-up in the 92.5 The River Rising Star contest is a singer, songwriter and guitarist drawing on such influences as Tom Petty, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, and Barry and The Remains. The founder and front man of the Boston based band the Catalinas, he has opened shows for many national acts including Little Steven Van Zandt, NRBQ, Charlie Sexton and South Side Johnny and the Asbury Jukes. In fact, Kerans opened a show for Roy Orbison four days before the legendary singer’s untimely death. Kerans has steadily garnered national and local press; David Mead, in the September October (2009) issue of American Songwriter, declared “Satch Kerans is doing his damndest to preserve what seems to have always worked: stories about people in conflict set to familiar melodies and arrangements... Kerans doesn’t stray too far from any previously beaten paths, but a certain authenticity in his delivery makes you like him for it all the more. You really wouldn’t want him to be any other way”. In a recent feature story that ran in the Boston Globe music critic Jonathan Perry wrote, “years after settling into an entirely different identity and new set of priorities - reemerges with some of the best songs he's ever written... nodded in sound and temperament to his longtime heroes Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan, as well as ex-Dream Syndicate frontman Steve Wynn and Mark Knopfler. At the collection's core was a clutch of sturdy melodies and classic pop structures”. Kerans, who has garnered extensive airplay on Boston radio stations including WXRV (The River) WAAF and WUMB. is currently working on his fifth solo CD. Catch him at a venue near you! Kerans has released seven solo CD’s since disbanding the Catalinas including: “Elliot Street”; “Riverboys”; “Pieces”; “Wait, What” and “Snake Eyes”. His new single “Those Lies” is available at Bandcamp; DistroKid; itunes and most music platform. And Speaking of Little Steven Van Vandt, Kerans has been getting played on Little Steven’s Underground Garage courtesy of Genya Raven and Palmer Delran. Tickets at lostchordguitars.com Andras (pronounced On-Dross) is a songwriter with roots in Olympia, Boston and Los Angeles. His band Mr. Jones & The Previous (alternately Mr. Jones & The Fascists, Mr. Jones & The Hard Feelings and simply, The Previous) released 5 albums and toured extensively through the 1990’s. Before The Previous, Jones was in The Boon with Josh Clayton-Felt (later of School Of Fish). After The Previous, Jones toured and released music solo, sharing stages and sessions with the likes of Dan Bern, Spearhead, Jackson Browne, John Wesley Harding, Michelle Shocked, Patti Smith, Andy Dick, Sarah Silverman, Shmushkin and Chris Sand aka Sandman: The Rappin’ Cowboy. Jones’s new album is entitled Recognize, De-escalate & De-code. The first single “Get Outta My Head” is currently hitting indie radio charts around the world. Here’s the video for the song “Absolutely No Sense Of Humor” (with Andy Dick): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFTpUgCCUzo Outside of music Andras is known as an actor from films like A Nightmare On Elm Stret 4: The Dream Master and TV shows like Saved By The Bell. He is the creator and host of The Radio8Ball Show where guests are invited to ask questions which are answered by picking songs at random and interpreting them like musical tarot cards. He is the host of The World Is Wrong Podcast, and the author of Accidental Initiations: In The Kabbalistic Tree of Olympia (from Sync Book Press). Andras performs the song “Crazy Captain Gunboat Willie” on the upcoming Lowell George tribute Long Distance Love from Flat Iron Records alongside artists like Elvis Costello, Ben Harper & Inara George, due to be released in March 2024. Walk the Whale is the brainchild of Logan and Parker, two long-time friends from music school who reconnected over a kindling desire to make good on their passions and get their music out in the world. Trained as cellists but comfortable on various instruments, what follows is a unique twist on the genres of alt-rock, folk, or any other style the pair find themselves in. Natural collaborators, the duo excels at songwriting, creating over 40 songs since starting the band in 2022. The burst of creativity established a workflow that allows Logan and Parker to move from song idea to demo in a few days. In this, the multi-instrumentalism of Walk the Whale shines, as every part is written and recorded by them. Outside of their collaboration, Walk the Whale has established itself as a ready-made band for other artists along the central coast. Their musical training gives them an edge in providing fresh arrangements for songs ranging from folk to hip-hop. The band’s vision is to create more than a great touring act but to use their training and penchant for collaborating to involve themselves with all parts of the recording industry. From session work and on-stage collaboration to professional songwriting, Walk the Whale fills a unique niche in the music world. That of professional players, easy to work with, that can deliver powerful original music, or arrangements for any song that comes their way. Host | Arwen Lewis Executive Producer | Jeremiah D.
