The Battle of Bastogne: Portrait of Renée Lemaire, the «Angel of Bastogne»

  • Resumen

  • In December 1944, the Allies were nearing victory. After the successful D-Day landings in Normandy, they had freed a vast portion of Northern Europe, including Belgium. However, in an unexpected move, Hitler initiated a desperate offensive in the Ardennes Forest, spanning Belgium and Luxembourg.

In the bitter cold of winter, Bastogne was under siege. Amid the chaos of battle, Renée Lemaire, a shining light, stands out. Planning to spend Christmas with her family, she suddenly finds herself in the middle of a war. Together with Augusta Chewy, they transform an abandoned storefront into an emergency hospital, caring for the injured with unwavering commitment. As the city faced relentless bombings, Renée's heroism led her to be called the «Angel of Bastogne», but tragedy was looming. Join us for this touching tale of courage at the heart of the Battle of Bastogne.
