    First Alert Weather Day: Widespread frost/freeze, Gradual warming trend ahead • This morning is cold! • Temperatures have dropped to the 20s inland and lower to mid 30s along the coast. • Widespread frost and freeze this AM. o Some neighborhoods along the coast will stay above freezing. • Highs today in the mid 50s • Overnight, another inland frost/freeze away from the coast. • We return to near 70 degrees in the afternoon by the end of the week.     Wx Headline: A very cold morning kicks off a prolonged stretch of Winter weather • It's the coldest morning of the winter season so far • Jacksonville has been as cold as 26 degrees as of 3 AM • Temps have been as low as 20 degrees in SE GA • Jax should rise above 32 degrees around 9-9:30 • Inland neighborhoods will remain below freezing until 10-10:30 • It's a FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY through mid-morning due to the cold • It's a sunny & cool day with frost & freezing temps returning to inland spots tonight • Saturday's pretty pleasant - highs get close to 70 and there is no risk for a freeze anywhere Saturday night • A line of rain tracks across the area on Sunday • There will be some snow flurries/sleet well inland in SE Georgia Sunday morning with that line of rain • Given the current forecast, we are NOT predicting snow in Jacksonville & NE Florida • Accumulations up in SE GA look slim to none • Monday morning will be similarly cold to this morning with widespread frost & freezes • Sunday night & Monday morning will be another FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY • MLK Day features more sunshine but more cold with daytime highs only in the 50s • We're tracking additional frost & freezing temps Tuesday & Wednesday mornings TODAY: First Alert Weather Day thru mid-morning.     Chilly and breezy day before a widespread freeze tonight • Tracking the 40s and 50s this morning. • A few light sprinkles for the early AM commute, then dry. • Highs today in the lower 50s in Jacksonville. • Winds will pick up out of the northwest today. o Gusts of 20-30 mph likely. • First Alert Weather Day overnight tonight/ early Friday: Clear tonight with overnight lows dropping to the coldest air of the season, so far. o Lower to mid 20s in SE Georgia o Lower to mid 20s in Inland NE Florida o Light freeze likely all the way to the beaches of Duval, St. Johns and Nassau counties. • Cover sensitive plants tonight even along the coast. • Highs tomorrow will be in the mid 50s under sunshine and less wind. • An inland frost/freeze is likely again on Saturday morning. • Sunday will be a chilly day with highs in the lower 50s with showers. o Waycross/Blackshear/Nahunta in SE Georgia may see a few sleet pellets, snow flakes/rain mix-in Sunday AM.  No wintry accumulations expected.     Tracking showers today before cold air arrives • Tracking the 40s and 50s this morning. • Mostly cloudy skies today with a few isolated AM sprinkles possible. o Most neighborhoods won't see morning rain. • A line of showers will arrive in Jacksonville between 1 and 3 pm this afternoon. o The showers will move-in to Lake City and Waycross near or just before noon. • The initial band of showers will be gone by the evening commute. o A few more showers are possible tonight south of I-10  Showers should be done in time for the AM commute on Thursday. • Highs today in the lower 60s in Jacksonville. • Overnight, we drop to the lower 40s. • Highs tomorrow are only in the lower 50s with a breezy northwest wind. • The coldest air of the season, so far, arrives Friday morning. o Widespread frost/freeze to end the week. o Temperatures will be in the 20s inland and lower 30s along the coast. o Some frost and freezing conditions will be east of the St. Johns River to just off the beach. o Freeze Watch for our entire viewing area, including the beaches, for Thursday night into Friday morning.
