  • Resumen

  • Parents in Southlake discover a new label for what's been bothering them about all this diversity, equity and inclusion talk: critical race theory. A new fixation on the academic concept muddies the debate, drowning out the voices of students who’d come forward with stories about racism. Kimberlé Crenshaw, one of the founding scholars of CRT, sheds light on the national battle over the theory, warning of dire consequences. And Tucker Carlson, Dana Loesch, and even Demi Lovato all put a spotlight on Southlake, where the local fight has grown even more divisive — and more personal.

I'm glad it was brought to light in such a big way, with nbc promoting it and all. But, there was so much buildup to parts of the storyline, then it would just switch to a different thing. I felt like they didn't explain the different opinions on critical race theory very well. It was just the pro side doesn't like racial epithets and the anti side says they aren't racist. That's actually exactly what journalists are supposed to be, neutral. So they did a great job as journalists and I am wrong on this. But it would be nice to have someone explain what the point of teaching it is. It's not about being racist necessarily, it's about being ignorant to how we got here and until we can get informed in a real way. Through facts, analysis, and an understanding of disenfranchisement we can begin reframing race in our minds. Once we can understand and accept the past, then we can move to a different future. I'm not sure why teaching both American History and social accountibility in a class can be considered a bad thing for kids. Nothing will change until people start choosing to connect the dots and start training our brains to draw a new map.

This sounds like Trumpism and we need to hear it.

We need to hear this ; how people are easily brainwashed. it saddens me to hear what's going on but now it
has spreaded throughout our cities and they need to know.

Great reporting, very informative!

This podcast is something everyone should listen to. There are only 2 kind of people who complain about Critical Race Theory, Liars and the Uninformed. It has never been taught in America outside of law schools, and it's a Theory that Does Not speak anyone being evil or racist.
