The Collier Landry Show

De: Collier Landry
  • Resumen

  • Hi, I’m Collier. Like many people, I ended up here accidentally because of another person's selfish actions. I was 11 years old when I heard my father murder my mother. I then worked with the police to get him arrested and testified against him in his murder trial, leading to his lifetime of incarceration. Then, the hard part began. Disowned by my family and sent to live in foster care, I started life over at age 12. Here, I share my process and perspective on surviving true crime and the trauma that comes with it. Let’s talk about overcoming adversity and moving on. I’ll chat with fellow survivors, academics, advocates, and storytellers. Healing is an ongoing journey, but we can turn the darkest moments in our lives into our brightest legacies! I hope this content offers anyone processing trauma the hope to move on to a better and more fulfilling life! Links: https://www.collierlandry.com/links

Originally from Toronto, he earned a J.D. from Harvard University in 2001. After working as a law clerk for a federal judge and as an associate at a law firm, he joined the faculty of Florida State University in 2005. Markel was killed in Tallahassee, Florida, in 2014, in a murder-for-hire motivated by child custody issues following Markel's divorce from Wendi Adelson, a clinical law professor and child advocate also employed at Florida State University at the time. Wendi Adelson has not been charged, but she has been named, together with her brother Charlie and mother Donna, as "conspirators" in the killing. Four individuals have been convicted in the case. Luis Rivera pled guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 19 years in prison. Sigfredo Garcia was found guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder and sentenced to life in prison. After a mistrial was declared in her original trial, Katherine Magbanua was found guilty of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and solicitation of murder in her retrial; she was sentenced to life in prison plus two consecutive 30-year sentences. Charlie Adelson, Wendi Adelson's brother, was convicted of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and solicitation of murder. On Tuesday, December 12, 2023, Charlie Adelson was sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder plus an additional 30 years each for conspiracy and solicitation convictions. Donna Adelson, Markel's former mother-in-law, was arrested at the Miami International Airport on a warrant from Leon County, apparently trying to flee to Vietnam, a country with no extradition treaty with the U.S. She is charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and solicitation of murder. Her trial is set for September 17, 2024. • Disclaimer: All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. • LIVE: Fallout of Trump Assassination Attempt is a Human Issue, Not a Political One.
    Jul 15 2024
#trump #truecrime #secretservice On July 13, 2024, former President Donald J. Trump survived an assassination attempt. President Biden ordered a full review of security for former President Trump’s Pennsylvania rally and to assess the security in place for the Republican National Convention this week in Milwaukee. On Sunday afternoon, Trump said he would head to Wisconsin for the RNC as planned. He’d thanked the nation on Sunday morning for its concern in the wake of an attempt on his life the evening before. Throughout the morning, Republicans and Democrats alike called for lowering the temperature of political rhetoric. Amid those calls, there were questions about how this happened and descriptions of the rally as a “security failure.” One person at the rally was also killed, and two others were critically injured, officials said. Overnight, the FBI named the suspect in the shooting at a rally in Butler, Pa., but offered no other details. Authorities said Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pa., was involved. Today, I am joined by James E. Craig, the 42nd Chief of Police for the City of Detroit. About my guest: James E. Craig has dedicated his life to service, spending more than four decades in law enforcement, leaving the cities he served safer than he found them. In 2013, Craig was asked by Governor Rick Snyder to serve as the 42nd Chief of Police for the City of Detroit, his hometown. Over the next eight years, Craig led a department of 2800 sworn and civilian personnel and achieved great success, propelling the DPD into the 21st century. Accomplishments as the Chief of Police in Detroit include a significant reduction in violent crime rates through the utilization of data and analysis to support proactive policing, quicker response times for priority 911 calls, and the institution of programs to cut gang membership in at-risk communities. Craig received widespread acclaim for his leadership during the unrest in the summer of 2020. While other cities were marred by looting, riots, and destruction, Detroit stood firm, a model for other cities to strive for. wanders but great

These podcasts tend to wander in elliptical loops around the topic
But that's fine because I learned so much about and a bunch of other cool stuff.
