  • Rest Journeys Ft Cassandra Lam of @collectiverest
    Sep 17 2023
Sydney is joined by Cassandra Lam to chat about the shadow work of rest journeys, how rest is taboo, and healing through rest. Cassandra Lam (she/her) is a Vietnamese-American somatic healing facilitator guiding tired and trauma-impacted organizations, communities, and people to feel safe enough to slow down. As a neurodivergent daughter of refugees living with complex PTSD, chronic pain, and invisible disabilities, Cassandra is passionate about creating rest-affirming spaces where community care, healing, and liberation are practiced as culture. Born and raised in the San Gabriel Valley of Southern California, she now lives on the unceded lands of the Cherokee (Asheville, NC) near the Blue Ridge Mountains with her partner and their fur babies. In the aftermath of the Atlanta Spa Shootings in March 2021, she created Collective Rest — a guided practice sharing ancient mind-body-spirit healing technologies to prepare the nervous system for deep states of relaxation, rest and recovery — to address our collective suffering, exhaustion, and grief. Her mission is to uplift rest as a necessary modality for collective healing and social change. Previously, Cassandra spent 5 years building The Cosmos, a community of 13K+ API women and femmes globally. As CEO and Co-Founder, she led partnerships and the development of community care programs centering Asian women in America, which included sold-out retreats, group programs, and “The Cosmos Summit”, a 300-person conference in Brooklyn. Instagram: @collective_rest Community Sessions: I host monthly Community Rest Sessions on Zoom for us to learn, practice, and support one other in our rest journeys. These community sessions are free to acknowledge how systemic oppression inequitably distributes the conditions and resources to feel safe enough to take rest. Patreon Membership: Access exclusive audio-only Collective Rest practices from your phone to help you slow down and sleep better — any time, anywhere. Rewriting Our Rest Stories: This is my signature 4-month group program for tired API women and femmes who are ready to break intergenerational cycles of exhaustion through rest. Join the waitlist to be the first to hear when enrollment for Spring 2024 opens! 1:1 Rest Mentorship: Receive personalized support to uncover the unconscious beliefs and survival strategies that are holding you back and burning you out.
