  • AGE: How to Improve Egg, Sperm, and Embryo Quality
    Dec 2 2025
In this episode, I'm answering one of the most common questions I get from all of you: How can I improve embryo quality? And, I also very often get the questions of how could I improve egg and sperm quality too? I'm really excited to talk about this with you today!!

The thing is this, there are three factors that influence egg, sperm and embryo quality that I want you to know about. Once you know about it, then you can do something about how these three things come into play in your life. And the three factors that I want you to know about are age, genetics, and environment.

  • Genetic Counselor Explains Genetics & Hereditary Disease for Fertility Patients with Dena Goldberg
    Dec 1 2025
Your Genetics are a key part of my TUSHY Method (Y = Your genetics) and I'm so honored to have Dena Goldberg (also known far and wide as Dena DNA) joining me today!

Some of the questions I know you have on your mind about genetics are:
Nothing came back on my 23 & Me test. I'm good to go, right?
Answer: Not so fast. 23&Me relies on "SNP testing," and only looks at "very specific bookmarks on very random genes." You'll want a more thorough test for preconception screening.

I don't have any history of disease in my family. Do I need to do genetic testing?
Answer: It's a good idea. There are syndromes such as Lynch Syndrome that are asymptomatic in 90% of people who are carriers. You'll want to know if you have those genetic markers before passing them on to your embryo and child.

Can you make sure my embryo doesn't have autism?
Answer: Autism is actually a description of a constellation of symptoms. So it's not an underlying condition in and of itself. There are hundreds to thousands of genetic causes to autism. We can catch some of these cases, but not all. Autism is multifactorial, meaning that many of these cases are probably caused by a combination of genetics and environment or in other words, nature and nurture together.

Thank you for joining me, Dena!

    Nov 28 2025
I'm excited to share this episode, where I joined Dr. Kirti Patel to talk all about egg freezing on The Gynarchy Podcast. We discuss why egg freezing matters, how it works, and what every woman should know about her fertility options. As a fertility specialist with deep roots in women's health (and a family legacy in OB/GYN), I'm passionate about empowering women with the knowledge and choices they deserve. In this conversation, I share my personal journey, the inspiration behind my work, and why I believe education is the key to reproductive autonomy. During our interview, Dr. Patel and I dive into the evolving landscape of egg freezing, the cultural and societal factors influencing women's choices, and the realities (both medical and emotional) of fertility preservation. We discuss the science, the misconceptions, and the importance of making informed decisions, whether you're considering egg freezing for yourself or just want to better understand your reproductive health. My goal is to demystify the process and help women feel confident, not fearful, about their options. In this episode, we cover: My personal and professional journey into fertility medicine, including generational influences and early experiences in my father's practiceThe origins and evolution of "egg freezing parties" and how they've become a platform for education and empowermentThe step-by-step process of egg freezing, including preparation, testing, and what to expect physically and emotionallyCommon side effects, risks, and the psychological impact of fertility treatmentsThe role of genetics, age, and lifestyle in fertility planning, and how to personalize your approachDebunking myths: egg freezing as an "insurance policy," who should consider it, and the realities of success ratesThe intersection of workplace benefits, societal pressures, and reproductive rights in the context of fertility care Resources: Dr. Kirti Patel's website and The Gynarchy podcast (go subscribe!) • The Truth About Abnormal Embryos (Should You Discard Them?) with guest Meaghan Doyle
    Nov 25 2025
I'm so delighted to have Meaghan Doyle back on the show today to talk about the truth about abnormal embryos. Meaghan is a genetic counselor, and founder of DNAide, where she specializes in infertility, preimplantation genetic testing, and preconception genetic counseling. In this discussion, Meaghan and I are talking about the different kinds of embryo testing, what genetic test results should be used for, and why all fertility patients need to ask for reports on "abnormal" embryos. The truth is that sometimes, patients are told that their embryos are abnormal but never learn much more about the embryo itself. In some situations, those abnormal embryos can become healthy pregnancies and healthy, live babies, so it's important to learn as much as you can about all of the results of the genetic testing done on your embryos.

To set the stage for this conversation, I asked Meaghan what it means to genetically test an embryo, and here's what she explained:
"It means that we've taken a sample from the outer layer of the embryo, usually a few cells, and sent that sample to a genetic testing lab. And there's actually a few different types of genetic testing that can be done on that sample. Generally, when we say an embryo has had genetic testing, we're referring to a test called PGT-A. And so when we say an embryo has been genetically tested, usually that's what we're referring to."

So what happens when an embryo comes back as "abnormal," and what can you do if it happens to you? Tune in to hear Meaghan explain.

Thank you for joining me, Meaghan!

  • Tips for Top Mental Health for Fertility Patients with guest Dr. Anna Glezer
    Nov 24 2025
Today I'm joined by Dr. Anna Glezer, MD and we are talking all about how to stay in top mental health as a fertility patient. Fertility patients know that treatment feels like being on a roller coaster. It's a time that can be full of optimism and disappointment, and because it can feel isolating, I include "Therapist" in my foundations of building your own Fertility TEAM (Therapist, Eating healthy and Exercise, Acupuncture, Mindfulness and Meditation are the basics). I love that Dr. Glezer explains how to approach the whole picture of mental health: getting support, taking good care of yourself, getting enough sleep, finding someone to talk to, eating well, doing some physical activity, and finding an integrative psychologist to work with if that feels right.

As you'll hear her say, "For anyone who's listening, who might be having a little bit of a hard time with their emotional and psychological health: you're not alone. This is really common. And you should absolutely reach out to get the help that you need."

  • What is IUI? History of IUI and Explanation of How IUI Works with guest Dr. Geoffrey Sher
    Nov 21 2025
Dr. Geoffrey Sher is back, and we are talking about Intrauterine Insemination, or IUI. In 1982, Dr. Sher and his colleagues were the first to wash sperm, and then put it through a centrifuge process. After an incubation period, they used a catheter to inject the sperm into the uterine cavity of a patient. He's a true pioneer, and this was the first time IUI had been done!.

I know you will enjoy learning more about IUI from him. We're sharing about how IUI works, and why it's recommended for some patients. We also discuss the differences between IUI and IVF, and when you might pick one over the other.

Read the whole show notes on my website. Visit Dr. Sher's website.
