  • Episode 15: Can we truly settle down as expats or travellers? How to find your place in Australia.
    Apr 5 2023

We loved recording this episode as we dive into the other side of expat life, a side that is often overlooked. While moving abroad can feel like a fresh start, we discuss whether expats are generally happier leading an expat life, as grief and guilt leaving loved ones behind often catches up with us over time.

We chat about what some of our followers told us about their current dilemmas as expats in Australia, and we also discuss how our love for travel has shaped our path for trying to fit into the 9-5 lifestyle and as an expat trying to fit into living in a new country.

Listen to the end as we talk about towns and cities we have considered moving to in Australia (and tips for how to decide where to live regionally vs in a city), as well as tips for how to embrace life as an expat and live each day to the fullest, if you’re feeling unsettled, like many of us are.

  • Episode 14: How to Cope with Expat guilt with Amy Butters
    Mar 14 2023

We chat to Amy Butters, a British expat who feels like the ‘guiltiest expat’ alive. When you become an expat, it’s not unheard of to feel a sense of guilt and grief when leaving loved ones back home.

Over the years, we all have to learn how to accept our new lives living in another country, while learning that life is continuing on without us back home.

So, in this episode, we chat to Amy who just returned back from UK after a whirlwind trip home. Fresh off the plane, Amy explains what it was like visiting friends and family in January of all months. We talk about what life is like back home right now, how her friends and family are dealing with the energy crisis and how she feels being back in Australia.

Listen right to the end because we discuss about why we should all be appreciating each and every day like we’re only living the expat life for a short period of time. Changing our mindset could help us feel free from feeling like we’re stuck between two worlds.
