    Rep. Takano is an American politician and academic who has been the United States representative for California's 41st congressional district since 2013. A member of the Democratic Party, Takano became the first openly gay person of Asian descent in Congress upon taking office. Additionally, Rep. Takano has made history for legislation he's put forward that would reduce the standard workweek from 40 hours to 32 hours by lowering the maximum hours threshold for overtime compensation for non-exempt employees under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

    Laura Hamill, PhD, is an organizational psychologist and owner of Paris Phoenix Group, a consulting firm specializing in the intersection of science and HR. Laura also was a co-founder of Limeade, an employee experience software company, holding the Chief People Officer and Chief Science Officer roles, and she continues her work with Limeade as their Chief Science Advisor. Before Limeade, she worked at Microsoft as the Director of People Research and has worked at various other companies in employee research roles.

    Dr. Hamill earned her Ph.D. in industrial/organizational psychology from Old Dominion University and a B.S. in psychology from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
