  • KOI: A Twilight Zone Show - Elegy - #20
    Jul 20 2024

Three men in search of a new home, in a spaceship with little fuel, find themselves on an asteroid that just so happens to contain breathable air, the right amount of gravity, and even people. However, there is something slightly off about this place. That's where we pick up in this week's Twilight Zone episode, "Elegy." We'll talk about the unusual caretaker of this cemetery, Jeremy Wickwire, and his ultimate decision at the end of the episode; we'll talk about why people would want to be frozen for all eternity on an asteroid; and I'll give you my moment of awe. So, grab your keys, and let's open up this door to the fifth dimension and talk about "Elegy." • KOI: A Twilight Zone Show - The Purple Testament #19
    Jul 6 2024

Not all heroes love having powers. Such is the case for Lieutenant Fitzgerald--Fitz for short, in this week's Twilight Zone episode "The Purple Testament." This is a story of a soldier with an odd gift--or, perhaps, curse. Fitz knows when death is coming for his fellow soldiers--he can literally see it on their faces. Captain Riker, played by Dick York, does all that he can to help the lieutenant, but it isn't long until he himself begins to don the glowing visage. I won't reveal here how the story ends; you'll either have to watch my plot summery or watch the episode itself. If it were up to me, I'd say, go watch the actual episode. Then, come back and join us as we break down this episode of the Twilight Zone. We'll talk about why Rod Serling invokes Shakespeare's Richard II; we'll dissect what the supernatural effect does for our reading of the episode; and I'll reveal to you my moment of awe. Nan Adams (Inger Stevens) a young woman on a cross-country trip across the United States, is experiencing just such an event. This week on Key of Imagination, we're taking a look at the classic Twilight Zone episode: "The Hitch-Hiker." We'll talk about what the hitch-hiker might actually be; we'll try and figure out the purpose of the sailor; and I'll reveal to you my moment of awe. This week we're talking about the Twilight Zone episode "I Shot an Arrow into the Air." We'll discuss whether or not we actually can land on an asteroid--and possibly if we can live on, or in, one; we'll take a stroll over to Sigmund Freud's house and get a better sense of how our astronauts are affected by the reality principle and the pleasure principle; and I'll reveal to you my moment of awe. • KOI: A Twilight Zone Show - Third from the Sun #14
    Apr 27 2024

William Sturka, a perfectly normal man in many respects: family, friends, a job. However, he's walking around with a big secret. Namely, a ware is coming, one that will ultimately mean the end of the species. All he can do is grab his loved ones and friends and make a mad-dash for a means of escape. In this week's episode of The Twilight Zone, we take a look at one of my favorite episodes: "Third from the Sun." It's a story that seems even more relevant today than, perhaps, even when Rod Serling introduced it in 1960. We'll talk about how informed/pessimistic Serling's audience was about atomic destruction at the time of the episode; we'll question whether or not Sturka's profession as a scientist alters the way we view his character; and I'll give you my moment of awe. Apr 13 2024

What if you could shapeshift and change your face to look however you want it to. What would you do with that power? If you're our protagonist in this week's Twilight Zone episode, Arch Hammer, you'd spend your time being petty, breaking hearts, and stealing from men who should probably not be trifled with. But, the Twilight Zone has a way of balancing itself out--as Mr. Hammer will learn all too late. In this episode of Key of Imagination, we're taking a deep look at the episode "The Four of us Are Dying." We'll discuss shapeshifting, plastic/cosmetic surgery, and deepfakes with AI.
