    The old adage in landscape photography is that using a tripod is an absolute essential. Most photographers would tell you that this is true. And while there is certainly a time and place to use a tripod, it isn't totally necessary for a lot more than you think.

    In this episode, pro photographer and workshop guide Dan Ballard talks about when you actually need a tripod, as well as how to set up your camera for shooting without it. You may be surprised at all the different kinds of images you can get without your three-legged companion!
