  • Forrest County Sheriff’s Deputy Maggie Burroughs is having a bad day. First there was the cold, wet winter weather, then a car accident on an icy bridge, and finally a routine stop to investigate a claim of neglected children. At an ages-old abandoned house in the middle of nowhere she finds a little girl and boy, and ends up dealing with far more than she ever expected.

Good over all

I wanted more details and more to the ending. Maybe more on the wife waiting and what the kids did to the deputy in the basement.

I don't usually rate a book/podcast if I haven't listened to the entire book/podcast but this one was not good at all. I just couldn't get through this. It seemed like it would be a great story when I read the details and I think it could be but the performance is truly unbearable. There is a ton of empty space where it's either completely silent or sound that doesn't really make sense for the scene. The acting is really over done.
