  • Myth vs Fact: We marry a version of our mother or father
    Sep 11 2024

Today, I will explore whether it is a myth or a fact that we marry a version of our mother or father.

Is this even a thing? If it is, then ouchie, the idea that we are drawn to versions of our parents in our romantic relationships may feel a little strange. If it isn't, then the question is why we are drawn to certain types of people.

Well, the answers are all here. Join me in understanding the research and theories that support or refute this theory and also my experiences as a therapist for over 20 years.

  • Bonding with Baby Signing - Special Guest Shelley Ensore
    Aug 1 2024
Today I will be speaking with Shelley Ensore, who is a mum of 3 and specialises in baby signing. At a time, 19 years ago when Shelley was pregnant with her second child and having experienced a horrific car accident, Shelley became curious about the world of baby signing. As a result, she has spent many years supporting families to develop pre-verbal communication with their babies, using the art of baby signing, which opens up a world of communicating with little people in a way that strengthens bonds and emotional connection and offers us a tool to build our confidence as parents to know that we are meeting our babies needs. littlesignersclub.co.uk https://www.facebook.com/LittleSignersClub

  • The Power Of Programming - Special guest Helen Davies
    Jun 11 2024
WOW, today I will be chatting with Helen Davies who is a parenting consultant and mum of 4. While chatting with Helen about her childhood and her parenting journey we inadvertently unearthed a piece of programming that had potentially shaped her career path, which she was previously unaware of. Helen's roles in working with families in various ways have brought her so much joy and fulfilment. Her position as a health visitor came from experiencing an incredible example when she was just 10 years old, when her mum's health visitor provided her with incredible care after the birth of Helen's sister. But the full understanding of why she so desperately wanted to embark on such a career may not have been fully clear until today. It was incredible to see Helen’s journey unfold and it highlights that even those small nuggets of information that we store in our subconscious can bring so much light and make so much sense as to why we are the people we are today I hope you enjoy the show.

  • Blended Families - Special Guest Miryka Yeates
    May 21 2024
Today, I will be speaking with Miryka Yeates, who is a mum of four and a step-mum to four children. We discuss the challenges and joys blended families face, the roles step-mums play in children's lives, and how stories like Cinderella and Snow White have created internal and external perceptions of what step-mums are and the pressures related to those. As a stepmum myself, I, too, share a lived experience of navigating the landscape of step-parenting. Miryka and I provide key insight into our journeys. Whether you are a stepparent or the biological parent, this episode may help shed light on the challenges many blended families face from a different perspective and help you to know that you're not alone. I hope that our experiences can help you walk what can be a tricky path and find the joy of nurturing your relationships with your stepchildren and their parent with ease and self-acceptance. I hope you enjoy the show.
