    The Philadelphia Experiment

On October 28, 1943, a classified experiment was taking place at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard in Pennsylvania. A U.S. Navy Destroyer escort called the USS Eldridge was claimed to have been rendered invisible to enemy devices.

    Origins of this Story

In 1955, 12 years after the experiment occurred, a series of letters from an unknown source were sent to Morris K. Jessup, a writer and astronomer. At this time, Jessup had just published a book called The Case of the UFO which analyzed the potential existence of UFOs and their theoretical means of propulsion.
